The dental problems are seen in the people of all age groups. These problems are not taken in to account seriously because they do not cause any serious effect to the life of the patient. The person suffering from the dental problems lead a normal life and can easily carry out his day to day activities. But still the dental problems can become unbearable sometimes if not treated on time and can cause tremendous pain and trouble to the person.
Let us have a look on some of the common dental problems:
1) Decaying of tooth resulting in tremendous pain:
The most prominent dental problem seen in most of the patients is the decaying of tooth or molar. This ailment is prevailing since ancient times and is commonly called as tooth decay. According to the survey made by World Health Organization, nearly 80% of people have at least one or more tooth or molar decayed. This problem is more common in children and the number of children suffering from tooth decay is out of proportion. Most of the children have all their deciduous teeth decayed. This is called as Remnant Caries.
2) Abscess at the root of the tooth causing swelling of the face:
When the decay of the tooth reaches the root of the teeth through the nerves then it causes the manifestation of germs and the abscess is formed at the root of the tooth. This causes swelling of the face, difficulty in opening the mouth, shooting pain, fever and such other symptoms. This is called as Dentoalveolar Abacin.
3) Ludwig Angina:
Very often due to the manifestation of germs, the decayed tooth becomes septic and the pus spreads in the various face cavities. This causes swelling of face and neck and a pressure is formed on the esophagus and trachea causing trouble in breathing and swallowing. High fever and shooting pain are the symptoms of this dental disease. This should be treated immediately otherwise it may be become lethal.
4) Pyorrhea:
This is a major gum problem. The gums and ligaments which support the teeth are infected and inflamed. The food particles accumulate in the teeth causing plaque formation. Also there occurs germ manifestation in the gums resulting in pus formation. This diseases causes bad breathe, recession of gums and bone erosion.
5) Scurvy:
Scurvy is a gum problem caused due to deficiency of Vitamin C. This disease results in the inflammation of gums, and bleeding in the gums.
6) Impacted teeth:
The third molars start erupting at the age of 15-24. But at this age there remains inadequate space in the jaw for the growth of these third molars. This causes the molars to grow in wrong direction. This is called as impacted teeth. Many timed the food particles gets accumulated in the gums surrounding the third molars and causes germ manifestation causing a disease called Peicoronitis.
7) Dental Cyst:
Dental cyst is also a very common dental problem. It is found in three types.
a) Eruption Cyst: This develops surrounding the crown of the erupted tooth
b) Dentigerous Cyst: This develops the crown of unerupted tooth or gum causing a tumor.
c) Periodontal Cyst: This cyst develops at the root of decayed tooth.
8) Tooth erosion:
The tooth and gum erosion is a very common dental problem occurring with the increasing age. This erosion causes discoloration of tooth, indention in teeth, severe sensitivity and tooth loss.
9) Mouth ulcer:
The frequent occurrence of mouth ulcer along with scar in the sensitive skin of tongue, check and lips is also a common problem in today’s hectic life.
