Today's world is a completely modernised one wherein one thinks that he never needs the help of others. But is the present condition so? Let us ask this question to ourselves. The answer comes this way, "Man can't survive alone and he definitely needs the help of his fellowmen".
What is Blood Donation?
Whenever a person meets with an accident or a haemorrhage attack, he or she is prone to lose blood. And this blood is supplemented with the blood of the same group from another person.
Why most people don't come forward for blood donation?
The first reason could be that they fail to put themselves in the place of the one in need of blood.
The second is unnecessary fear or superstitious belief about blood donation.
How can a person donate blood?
There are certain conditions for donating blood:
1. A person must be above 16 years of age with good health and should be no victim of any heriditary diseases.
2. The person should be no addict to alcoholism or cigarette smoking or other drug abuses.
3. A person can donate only 300ml of blood at a time.
India lags behind in Blood Donation:
The census report showed a very strong decline in India's citizens who came forward for blood donation.
The need of the hour:
The actual need of the hour is for people to come forward to donate blood as the number of citizens who are losing their lives due to lack of blood banks, is very large. People must come out of their ignorance about blood donation and blood transfusion. For this the government and other such allied institutions which seek the people to come forward on their own interest for blood donation, must create a right attitude in the minds of the people to donate blood.
For it is not just you or just me who can revolutionise the present conditions but only 'We' who can rewrite the fate and future of those several millions dying everyday due to lack of blood during blood transfusion.
Remember, above all, we are human beings and it is human blood that runs through our veins. And so it is we who should come forward to help our human race, isn't it?
Think, think and think deeply and finally arrive at an answer which would be, "Safe Blood Donation starts with me".
