Health is wealth. To be with a sound body and mind is the greatest boon once can have in his life. If we follow a regular life-style we can drive away the diseases and attain good health and longevity. Ayurveda stipulates certain routine to be observed in our daily life. Wake up before sunrise. Excrete first. Needless to say an oil bath is essential for good health. Oil should be applied on both the ears, feet and head. Those who suffer from diseases like fever; indigestions etc. should not apply oil on their body.
Exercise is the next step. Only the body's half of the strength should be utilized for doing exercise. Children, aged ones and invalids shouldn't do exercise. If necessary warm water can be poured on body but don't pour hot water on head. Those who have ear infection should not pour water on their head. Don't take bath immediately.
Eat only when you feel hungry. Half belly food is enough. Quarter should be water and the remaining quarter part should be empty. Use only hot water to drink. Pure rain water is recommended. But it should not be water from the first rain in a season or from the intermittent ones. Water we get from such rain will be polluted. Sweet, sour, salt, bitter...etc. are the tastes. The food we take should not exceed in any one of these tastes. One should eat only after the food he/she took before has been digested completely.
One of the main reasons for the diseases is with helding the bodily wastes. If one feels for excretion, vomiting, sneeze, hiccup etc. satisfy it without any delay. But it should not be forceful. Passion like greed, jealously, hiccup, grudge etc. should be nipped off from the beginning itself.
Our every wish should have a good end. Nothing should be done with lethargy or over enthusiasm. Ayurveda does not recommend certain duration for sleepness. Sleep until in day time unless you loose it the previous night. But one can have a nap in very hot days. Bedroom should be neat having sufficient air circulation. Go to bed with peace of mind. Tension and worries of each day should not carry on to bedroom. Similarly wake up form the sleep happily. According to Ayurveda disparity in thridosha (vatha , pitha and kadba ) leads to diseases. These three things should be in a balanced state. Only after detecting the imbalance treatment is done in Ayurveda.
