Being fit is a way of saying a person eats well, gets a lot of physical activity and has a
healthy weight. If you are fit your body works well, feels good and can do all the things
you want to do, like run around with your friends.
Fitness depends a lot on your diet, exercises, sleep pattern and other habits.
Start your day with a nutritious breakfast
After along night sleep it is important to refuel your body. It will help you do better in
school.
Eat a variety of foods especially fruits and vegetables. Your body needs nutrients and
many different vitamins and minerals. If you eat different foods, you are more likely to
get the nutrients your body requires. Hence, an important ingredient of healthy living is
balanced diet. Choose healthy snacks. Go easy on foods such as burgers, chips, pizza,
collocates, ice-cream which should be had only occasionally.
Drink water and milk most often
Your body is 65% water. That shows how important water is to your body. Make sure
you drink at least eight glasses of water every day.
Kids need calcium to grow strong bones and milk is a great source of this mineral. If you
are 8 years or so old you need each day about, 300 milligrams of milk. Soft drinks are not
a very good way to quench your thirst.
Always listen to your body
When you are eating notice how your body feels and when your stomach feels
comfortable full. Sometimes people eat too much because they do not notice when they
need to stop eating. Eating too much can make you feel uncomfortable and over a period
of time, it can lead to unhealthy weight gain. Similarly, eating too less would make you
weak and you will not be energetic and active.
Be active
To remain fit is very important to do some physical activities regularly. Walk, bike
or jog to see friends. Take a few minutes activity break every hour while you read, do
homework or watch TV climb stairs instead of taking escalator or elevator.
When you run, jog or even dance, you breathe hard. It helps your heart pump better, give
you more energy and help you look and feel your best. Participate in physical activities in
school.
Play outdoors for a while every day, the best way to grow strong and be healthy is to take
part in sports. It is a good exercise, teaches you to share, makes your mind healthy and
relaxed and also gives you confidence.
Get fit with family and friends
Being active is much more fun with friends of family. Activities such as running,
cycling, walking, trekking can be organized on a group basis. In this manner each of you
improves personally while having fun.
Limit your screen time
It is the amount of time which you spend watching TV, DVDs videos and computer
games. The more time you spend on these activities the less time is available for being
physically active.
Balanced diet, eating healthy and following a regular fitness routine will make you grow
stronger, play longer and look and feel better. Set realistic goals-do not tries changing too
much at once. Slowly and steadily develop a healthy lifestyle.
