Benfits of Tulsi or Basil
The usage of tulsi is quite common from the ancient age. It is a traditional and medical plant. In Ayurvedic medicine tulsi is a common item, which is used for many diseases, including treating tumor growth. It is used for first- aid treatment, to give relief from pain caused by cuts, burns and skin problems.
For respiratory problems and digestive problems, it is quiet efficient to use.
According to research study it is found that Basil can act as immunomodulator and cytoprotective. And as said earlier, it can be good for treating tumor and is also an anti cancer agent.
Types of Tulsi or Basil:
The types of Tulsi can be identified depending on the color and they are classified into three varieties
Rama Tulsi: It has green stems and leaves.
Krishna Tulsi: The stems and leaves comes with purple tint
Vana Tulsi: It is wild type and grows like a bunch
All these type can be grown anywhere and even in the backyard of your home.
That is reason why many tradition homes or palaces in India have a Tulsi plant in the backyard or in corridors.
Importance of Tulsi plant in Hinduism:
In Hindu culture the plant is considered as sacred and is daily prayed by offering flowers and water. It is believed that the plant is related to God Vishnu and offered special pujas on some auspicious days.
In temples, Tulsi is added to the sacred water and is offered to devotees as blessing of God Vishnu.
Home Remedies using Tulsi:
Relief from Cold: Use Tulsi leaves with tea by adding it in the boiling water.
Respirator Problem: To get relief from Asthma, Bronchitis and influenza like allergies use Tulsi concentrate with ginger and honey. For influenza treatment Tulsi concentrate can also be used with cloves and common salt.
Nausea and Morning Sickness: The antispasmodic properties of Tulsi can cure Nausea and Morning Sickness.
Digestive problems: Due to strong flavor of Tulsi saliva is produced which is good for digestive process.
Other than Tulsi another good health aliment is GARLIC which has some similar features:
GARLIC:
It is also known as Lahsun. For home treatment Garlic is another good item which is available for immediate treatment. Skin problems such as ringworm, candida and vaginitis can be treated or prevented. Garlic has some healing properties which can also keep amoebic dysentery away. Like Tulsi, it is also an anticancer agent and acts as antiseptic for curing wounds. Diabetes patients can also consume it, as it has the capacity for reducing glucose metabolism and also decreases the development of arteriosclerosis.
