Water – 71% of our body belongs to this colourless tasteless liquid. One among the basic necessities of human life! Through sweat and urine, one loss 10 cups of water everyday through sweat and urine. So, for both health and beauty, water is most essential for our body. Can you imagine even a single day without drinking water?
How much water should we drink?
One should drink 8 to 10 glass water everyday. Those persons who drink 5 glasses of water everyday has 5% less chances to get a heart attack than those who prefer less water. In those ladies who drink 5 glasses of water everyday, the chances of Colin cancer is reduced to half.
Pregnant ladies need to take double quantity of water. Otherwise she may get urinary infections easily. Those persons who do manual work a lot need to drink water once in every half hour as a lot of water is lost through sweat. Same is the case of regular exercises like brisk walk, shuttle etc. Never allow your body to be dehydrated.
Water – some myths!
Myth 1: Drink water when you feel thirst
It’s a bad habit to drink water only when you are thirsty. When our body losses water content, it responds as the feeling of thirst. It’s just a reflex action. Our body deficient of water is more harm than its excess. So never wait for thirst. Instead drink water whenever you feel so.
Myth 2: Coffee and tea are also water
Coffee, tea, juice and soft drinks contain water as main content. But their actions on our body are different. Cola, coffee and tea contain caffeine which can cause loss of water content of our body through urine. Excess sugar in juices can also lead to same loss. So, pure water is best for our body. You can add lemon juice as well.
Myth 3: Drink water during summer only
Our body can be dehydrated at any moment, summer or winter. It’s true, we loss excess water in summer through sweat. Yet we need water during winter and rainy season as well. Inadequate intake of water during winter can lead to urinary infections. To clean a dish, we need water. Same is the case of our body too. To clean impurities and wastes of our body parts and skin, it needs water. How much water we provide, that much clean our body and skin will be.
Myth 4: Drinking excess water damages kidneys
It’s not true. Drinking a lot of fresh water gives less chance for stone formation in kidneys and urinary bladder. Also to reduce urinary infections, drink water a lot.
Water for our existence
As air, water is also needed for our existence.
- Water helps in easy digestion of food and better absorption of nutrients to cells. Also, it helps in the easy transport of nutrients.
- Water helps to maintain electrolyte balance of the body.
- Bacteria and virus – the enemies of human body can be well treated by proper drinking habits.
- To wash away excess minerals, salt, nutrients and even toxins deposited in the body, water helps the cleaning mechanism of our body a lot.
- It moisturizers our skin and keep it soft and young.
- It acts as a shock absorbent for joints, muscles and bones.
- It avoids constipation.
Water – a medicine for weight loss
- Water plays an important role in digesting fats. When body is sufficient in water, liver converts stored fat to energy.
- When water content in our body increases oxygen content is also high as water is a chemical composition of hydrogen and oxygen. When our body contains a lot of oxygen, it burns a lot of fat to energy.
- If we don’t drink sufficient water our body automatically decreases the amount of urine and sweat. It results in constipation, sinusitis, infection in respiratory tract, pimples, head ache, fatigue, skin dryness etc.
- If we drink sufficient water, our hunger decreases resulting in less intake of food. So, persons suffering from obesity problems should take 1-2 glasses of water before every meal to reduce food intake.
Water for beauty
- To dump all waste of skin drinking plenty of water helps a lot. Our pores are always filled with dust particles. When water content of our body is high, it washes each and every pore of our body completely making it more fresh, clean, smooth and shiny.
- Water helps in the relaxation of muscles. Thus your muscles are well toned giving you a good body shape.
Water – an anti-aging agent
We become aged when we lose our body capabilities and when our body cells become weak, dumped with many toxic wastes. When we are using water as a cleaning agent, it removes all wastes, water it well and keeps them shine and young. When each and every cell of our body is repaired in this manner, we are becoming younger, for sure. Also, when your skin pores are sufficient in water, it’s cleaned and wrinkles removed. When excess fat storage is attacked by water, our body becomes more fit, healthy and stronger and thus it’s a good agent to keep us young always.
