Game (Hindi) is an upcoming Hindi Action film directed by Abhinay Deo and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani of Excel Entertainment. The film's title was initially 'Crooked' which was later changed to the new title of 'Game' .The film is supposed to be in the genre as of the Bourne Identity trilogy. The movie will be releasing on Releasing on April 1, 2011
The music has been composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. Lyrics are penned by Javed Akhtar.
1."It's A Game" (Vishal Dadlani)3:09
Vishal Dadlani's tryst with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy continues. Vishal and Shankar have become regulars in each others sound tracks. While Shankar mahadevan regularly charts out blockbusters in Vishal Shekhar's tracks like "Desi Girl" in Dostana, Vishal has been singing regularly in Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's soundtracks .The title song sung by Vishal Dadlani has elements of thriller. It sounds like soundtrack of Don towards the end which is surprising. For a moment it Sounds like the music notes of GAME might have got swapped with DON2 or may be they picked out the tunes meant to be for Don2 .
2."It's A Game - Reprise"(Sunitha Sarathy) 4:34
The Reprise version continues the momentum of the original title song . Though Sunitha Sarathy does absolute justice to the song it felt like the song belonged to more to the genre of Sunidhi Chauhan or Mahalaxmi Iyer. Sunidhi's vocals would have made the song more engaging .The high pitch vocals of Sunitha aren't impressive
3."Kaun Hai Ajnabi"(Aditi Singh Sharma, Kay Kay )3:58
"Kaun Hai Ajnabi" initially sounds like another song of Don stable escaped to be part of GAME. Later momentum shifts like a mixture of a dance track with a thriller element. It sounds more like a 70s track in parts that used to be the song before the climax where the hero and heroine used to go in disguise to the villains place and indulge in song and dance routine to keep him distracted while they try to rescue the victims. The song definitely scores among those to remember whatever be the mixture. Kay Kay comes with a typical song which does not add anything special to his track record.
4."Maine Yeh Kab Socha Tha"(Shaan, Anusha Mani, Loy Mendonca)5:15
The song starts with a piano rendition which may be the key background score to love track in the movie. It is a pleasant love song while the song starts on a lighter note with mostly the piano recital. The orchestration of this song is quite different and typical considering this is the lonely love track in this album. However we do not miss the mystery element in this song also. Looks like no song is left in the track to remind the listener repeatedly of its mystery element.Towards the middle there are some of the added elements of Mitwa from Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. The song stands out as the lonely love track. This may not be the best track of Shaan but it is among many those passable ones
5."Mehki Mehki"(Shreya Ghoshal, Kshitij)4:05
The song is surprising considering it is meant to be an item number. But the rendition by Shreya Ghoshal sounds more like a copy 'Kaisi Paheli Zindagani ' of from 'Parineeta'. The saving grace is Kshitij in this song. Shreya's vocals make the song more intense in wrong places sounding like the a sad song
6."Kaun Hai Ajnabi - Remix"(Aditi Singh Sharma, Kay Kay)3:44
The original was better though the remix is meant to be what a change of the orchestration beats. It is purely due to the tune that the song stands out. One can be expected to hum the original better. The remix is no more than a soundtrack meant for the dancefloor.
7."Mehki Mehki - Remix" (Shreya Ghoshal, Kshitij)3:41
The remix sounds more better than original considering the damage done by Shreya's intense singing in some places in original. The beats and orchestra in this song dilutes that effect and somewhat save the composition. People can believe the song to be an item song only for the remix.
Though not the best soundtrack of this kind from Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Game is an engaging work from the composer trio.
Songs that Stand out: Kaun Hai Ajnabi, It's A Game
