There are times when it is not so cold. There are times when it is not so hot. These changes are called changes of weather or climate.
Seasons
Seasons are different times of the year when the weather becomes different.
In India, our counter, we have three main seasons.
The longest season in India is summer.
It is very hot in summer.
March, April, May and June are the summer months.
No work in this season to the village people.
You need to use fans and coolers to keep cool in summer. Light cotton clothes are worn in this season.
Many people go to hill stations in summer to enjoy the cool climate of the mountains.
After the hot summer comes is rainy monsoon season. Winds bring black rain clouds from the sea.
For almost three months –July, August and September-it rains and rains.
Most of India gets rain at this time of the year.
Rain is very important for the crops, full work to the village people in the rain season. Field is green.
When it rains we save ourselves from getting wet using raincoats, gumboots and umbrellas.
From the middle of the November, winter starts.
It continues through December and January.
Winters are cold and the day becomes shorter.
At some places, especially in the hills, snow starts falling.
We need to wear woolen clothes to keep warm in winter. In the daytime people like to stay in the sun.
Fireplaces and heaters often keep us warm.
Many vegetables are grown in winter in India.
In India, we have shorter seasons too.
These are spring and autumn. In between summer and winter, we have spring.
Most plants get new leaves and flowers in spring.
Spring is mild and pleasant. It is neither very cold nor too hot.
Just before the winter we have autumn.
The sun shines brightly but it is never very hot.
Autumn nights are cool.
