I dont agree with your words some men will doubt if some one say this about his wife.

You see many persons including men have dark color because God has given them that color, how can they expect to find only fair color which is non existing. Would they never marry if the fair color is not available?

Color does not matter in Europe and Africa because there is no diversity. All Europeans are white and all Africans black. But we have variety of color- white, fair, wheatish, black. Hence we have color preferences.

There is diversity of climate in India- extreme cold to extreme hot. This could also be reason for color differences. Color does not change drastically in hot climate. A white color may be bit tanned in exposed too much to sun light. For skin safety, we need to avoid scorching sun.

The point is that unlike Europe and Africa, we have diversity of color. Hence, there are preferences about this.

I agree but in Europe and Africa there are places where whites and blacks both exist and not to mention brown and yellow. For instance there is big population of mixed races in UK and South Africa and Zimbabwe are some of the other examples. Besides if the color was the only criteria for selecting a partner for marriage there were all dark colored ladies left without marriage.

The existence of different color people in India differs. We have all original residents whereas the countries like U.S.A., South Africa have the difference in color because of immigration. The whites in south Africa are actually European immigrants. In our country, even brothers and sisters have different color skins. So, our problem is not ethnic. Hence, we have some color preference and this is not a case of racial or ethnic discrimination.

In India also we can see different colored people and they are absolutely happy with their own colors.

We have a huge diversity in various field and skin is also one place, where we find of different color.

Although I belong to a very fair colored area but have lived in different states where people were fairer and darker than me but no one ever complaint about his/her color.

I think so, only very few people think in terms of skin color that way, but yes there are people who consider skin color of a bride to improve their clan.

That is only comparative statement, some white/fair colors are unbearable.

External beauty is what makes people judge others. there are proverbs that say "appearances are deceptive". we would have had many experiences in life where we get cheated because of seeing the outside beauty. I've personally seen guys marrying girls who are externally beautiful but have a bitter character. So people judge people by heart not by appearance.

I would think that facial expressions and eyes of a person speaks more than words and also impresses far more than color. Once you converse with a person your whole perception changes , that's my feeling and you are not even bothered whether he/she is white,black,brown , yellow or even red... :huh:
