Why the Government is Shy of Investing A Part of Provident Fund in Stock Market?

Friends,

The question of investment of a part of our Provident Fund corpus has sparked off a heated debate.While the leftists are fiercely opposed to the idea,pragmatic consideration demands that government should seriously look at the proposal.When the government refuses to invest even a small part of it,it effectively means lack of confidence in its own capital market.What are your thoughts?
