Live for today or make long term plans..

While most of us feel that we have to live for today taking life as it comes, we are also advised to make long term plans for our future..
I know of a couple who have been married for 12 years and have 2 children. The husband never keeps a steady job and she spends all he earns, but they seem so very happy , living in different categories of rented places depending on the cash position and also going for holidays when there is money...Many people these days have this casual attitude ... I wonder if this is the right attitude towards life or wrong or it really does not matter as long as they are happy and take responsibility for their life ..

usha, that mean that pair has good adjustment and mutual understanding. It is good, but they should need to plan for children
Actually many people start saving once they get kids. Isn't it?
Life is uncertain. There are many hazards. If you are single or without children, living for today may be okay. But with children, you have to provide for their marriage and education. Sudden sickness and employment hazards also need some saving. Hence, taking mediclaim policy for self and family is utmost necessary. One should save ten to twenty five percent of income regularly and invest well.
Well life is not that much easy to live.Though we say that life is beautiful and all,but not that much easy.

Till our children get to that position, where they can earn, till that we have to their future.

So,for that we need a long term plan.

Giving them a good grounding is our duty and responsibility. But once they are able to stand on their feet they should try and be independent and learn the value of hard work and money.i have seen many cases where rich parents spoil their children and the result is that they become anti social, no respect for the nations legal system and think that money van buy everything...

You are correct,Control on our children should be there. We should never make them realize that the money is open for them and anytime they can use it.Discipline should be there.

Some children have self control they know the limits of their parents and act accordingly.

Some children do the right things , but there are some who take it easy...I have known many cases where children make their parents lives miserable with their monetary demands even while they are still at school...
Some smart children try to help their parents even before they complete ther education by doing different jobs, like most of the bright students give tuition to meet out their own expenses.

Yes thats good since they learn the value of money as well as the importance of hard work. I know many children who are extremely dedicated to their work and go through a lot of difficulties just to gain knowledge. Some come from 25 kms where the connectivity is poor and often roads get blocked due to rains and so on...but nothing deters them !
But some people try help their parents by doing hardwork but their hard work won't be enough for them to take care of their parents

Yes sarala, life is hard and to some extent also very unfair, one wonders why that is so.I guess it is natures law - survival of the fittest that works everywhere in life...or should we call it the Jungle law

i havent got married yet and saying about kids is so far then too i save then what it is.i think saving also depends on habit.
For happy living both are needed that is spend and earn but investment is also needed
I am happy in living in Present. We should plans for the long, but also should not waste this present.
Both can be done. It is possible.
I agree that with a little planning one can spend freely and also save for the future ! all that is needed is be consistent and start young and this really pays rich dividends ...Buying a home or any other kind of investment should be done while you are still young to get the maximum benefit..
If a person starts to earn less and then goes to earn big slowly slowly, those can't spend leisurely.

What you said is correct ronark., I agree with your point. We need to plan for our long life on the same time we need to enjoy this present life as life will never comes back once it is passed. :cheer: :cheer:

Life is precious,so we should live every moment of it.
Zindagi na milagi dhobara.. ;) :) So enjoy as well as think about future by slowly saving money...
First we need to live happily for today. If we are happy today then only we can be happy tomorrow
I would opt for the right balance. If we get too obsessed with the future, life ceases to life!

Very true ! I know of some families who go through their entire life on a hands to mouth existence since they have taken a loan for house and a loan for the fridge, car etc...what is left is barely enough for their existence !
Yes, such type of things happen if proper planning is not done. i have see a very rich family who look for each and every penny while enjoying. Then say that its good to save for future. This is also one extreme.
