Law protects all including women. It is more the issue of social attitude. Women are weaker gender not only physically but also that social norms make them more vulnerable. A man may go to any place any time without fearing about his 'honor' unlike women.

Laws towards women are much powerful but still men don't hesitate to crime against women.So, i don't think that laws are as much powerful as it should be.
No the indian laws cannot protect women in most of the issues. For example vijaiwada Ayusha case. Is there any result. 5 years completed but no use. Because the culprit has already purchased all the evidence and every one relatd to that case
What you have cited is a case of miscarriage of justice and mindless application or no application of laws or their provisions.Not the absence or non-existence of laws!
