There are a number of County parks and camping areas in the Red Oak. Anderson Wildlife Area, Elliott Boat Ramp, Ericson Conservation Area, Franek Prairie, etc. are some of the County parks and camping areas.

The Anderson Wildlife Area is a public hunting area of 196 acres that was acquired with a grant from the Wildlife Habitat Stamp Program with a 75-25 match, a cash donation from the Montgomery County Pheasants Forever Chapters of $10,000 and other cash donations in the year 1992. The FFA Cooperative of the FFA chapters of Red Oak, Stanton and Villisca has planted in a portion of this area crops and wildlife food plots.

Elliott Boat Ramp is a boat launching facility built adjacent to Highway 48 Bridge on the East Nishnabotna River just west of Elliott. Under an agreement with the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) the Conservation Board has assumed the routine maintenance of this facility.

Erickson Conservation Area was purchased in August 2004 from Wesley and Daryl Erickson. It was purchased using Wildlife Habitat Stamp Grant and REAP funds and is 127 acres. Public is allowed to go hunting, fishing and wildlife viewing in the Erickson Wildlife Area. Unless authorized by the Montgomery County Conservation Board no motorized vehicles are allowed on this area.

Franek Prairie is a 3.75 acre triangular piece of land acquired from the IDOT located on Highway 34 between Stanton and Red Oak. It was purchased by Dorthy Franek from the Montgomery County Conservation Board for a donation of $1000. The Living Roadway Trust Fund (LRTF) provided funds for the planting of prairie grasses and wild flowers.
The Red Oak Town Village has contributed immensely to the economic development of the Red Oak. Ali Sharaf, the President and CEO of Victron Energy, has injected millions of dollars into the economy of Red Oak through his investments.
