If people in a family are broad minded, they can accept a girl inside their family without dowry. How many people are ready to marry a girl without dowry? These kind of possibilities are only in love marriage especially when the couples do register marriage without getting permission and support from family members.
If the husband and wife are financially well settled, they do not try for getting alimony during the time of divorce. They give least importance to such matters.
There are many families where arranged marriage gets fixed without dowry. It's not a matter of having any broad mind rather it must be the trend for marriage fixation and especially the boy and the girl must have guts to say not to marriage with dowry. About alimony I would say that see the celebrity circle. The wives are accepting alimony even after being so rich.

Yes it is still not 100% ...My sister who is a gynecologist goes to villages with their mobile unit and there have been times when they have been threatened and abused by muslim men because their wives were advised on family planning by the doctors..They had to lodge a police complaint once because these men would not let them work in the village which comprises of all religious groups ..

I think Vijay was referring to dalits' right to worship Mahishasur just as others could worship Durga. It is known that many in Bengal and Odisa worship Mahisasur. This is a matter among Hindus. The issue of Afazal is different and is not relevant when we talk about worship of Hindu deities (or Hindu demons).
Wow, that is very generous, going by that argument there is no issue about Godse's followers celebrating ..afterall everyone has his own views and rights !

If demanding dowry is a crime then demanding alimony is womens rights how it is possible???? If dowry is a crime then alimony also must be a crime
There is absolutely no right to alimony since even a deserving totally dependent wife who has no career and money of her own, worked like a slave for the welfare and upkeep of her family, has to fight it out at the family court which is most of the time prejudiced against the women of our country and our Indian men never complain but lord it up when the wife works free of cost giving her all to the family but question her right for maintenance when things go wrong and the poor woman is literally on the street ..
Nothing wrong in alimony if wife or husband have not any other means of earning. It is ritual in Muslims, Mehar, the amount which will payable to wife in case of divorce.

No wonder our poor army personnel are so badly equipped . One should admire the courage and the patriotism of our people and armed forces who join and render their services inspite of these short comings.
It may be a good idea to send the whole lot of our politicians who beat their chest about patriotism on a compulsory military training for a year before they join politics..
The congress is to blame for many things and Nehru was responsible for surrendering the leadership of Asia to China. During his time Dr Rajendra Prasad made a mockery by a ludicrous statement that the army be disbanded ( In 1955). Nehru was always scared of a military coup and downgraded the army. Even later Congress leaders never realised importance of military. Only Modi government appears to be serious.
Incidentally Kargill and 65 war at best were a draw only. Only the victory in 71 is worth talking about, but that was also as the Pak had just 0ne squadron and 3 division in East. Pakistan miscalculated on US support, which was not forthcoming as Indira invoked the security pact with Russia.
In fact small gains made in the 1965 war were given away during the Tashkent agreement, god knows why? We lost many more soldiers than Pakistan and many more artileries and tanks than them , so it was definitely not a win..
True...how can a win be a win if we give away our own territories back to the enemy. But some people simply refuse to accept the truth, they find it to bitter to swallow it.

Your comparison of two dissimilar matters is devoid of
all logic and rationality. The diference between the two sticks out a mile. It is in keeping with civilized practices of the world to protect the financial stakes of a weak party who is caught holding the rough end of the stick of a failed marital relationship. Dowry is rooted in savagery while alimony stands at an altogether different plane!!

If u read between lines my intention was to inculcate a sense of balance in the moderator's language which most of the time is threatening. A moderator has to be neutral and persuasive and mentoring. Bias cannot be a basis of advice. You also give advice from time to time but do not bully or threaten. Rambabu can do it for he is not a moderator.

Fyi both our esteemed members Mr. Singh and Mr. Vijay, the concerned member has been gently told in quite polite words before this and he still persisted in his doings, which led to strong language. If you think it is infructuous and waste of time discussion, then I cannot help it, members like to have such discussions from time to time., since you both are here only for a short time comparatively, you may have missed other discussions. But I do find that such discussions are quite necessary and needed occasionally. Not my problem if you do not agree.
Mr. Vijay, thanks for enlightening us all with attributes of mentoring as a moderator, but we know what kind of language should be used to what kind of members. So thank you.
And since no one is desirous of letting the topic go and it offends you all so much , I am locking this thread. It has no further utility left.
