Well I am sharing some of my travelling experiences in this article. We all must be travelling through public transport more often. We all might experience many things which we may want to change.
I am from Mumbai and public transport here has no rest throughout the day. Trains are always crowded then it might be day or night on any line(Western, Central and Harbour Line).
I don't like people's behaviour in public transport when they find same female around them. Mostly female travel in train in Ladies Compartment but when they are in family they mught travel in general compartment and in such case most of the people will stare at her as if she has done some crime.
I sometimes think why people look at women in public transport in such a way. It might not be good for her privacy. Some people will try to go close to them and stand around them.(Hope you get what I am trying to say).
I hate such incidents and try to make that person realize about it so that he can stay away from ladies in such situations. As a regular traveller I witness such incidents more often and some times people realize that I am looking at them or someone like me is looking at them and they take a step back.
But I think there should be some security to make some strict actions against such irresponsive travellers who are such ill-mannered. They sometimes do not bother about what others might be thinking and still do the same thing continiously. Females are helpless in such a condition that they can't say anything to the person because it will create a show in the train and sometimes they raise their voices against such people and ask them to stay a little away but some times people give the reason of rush and will try to get more closer to females.
Even same thing happens in buses in Mumbai there are six seats in a 52 seater bus for ladies which are just for ladies but they can also sit on other seats if they are empty. When buses are crowded ladies may not a seat and so they might want to go to the nearest ladies seat so that they can stand comfortably there but most of the times people are standing around those ladies seats only. Yet another event which I hate. I hate people who stand near ladies seat in public transport.
Well we should stand at a place where we might get place to sit once someone is going to leave bus at their respective stops. But these ill-mannered people are standing near ladies seats and watching at the ladies sitting on the ladies seat. Even in such cases ladies fell uncomfortable and may just those people to stand properly just to make sure that she is feeling uncomfortable but she can't do anything.
Why there is no privacy for ladies in public transport and people always staring at ladies even in public transport. There should be some security to stop such events because these are embarassing for those ladies.
I am trying to make sure that ladies get a place to stand at least near ladies seat if no seat is available so just do these simeple things and help other women while travelling and stare at the ill-mannered people who are trying make travelling in public transport for woman unfavorable. I will also ask public int the bus to hit such ill-mannered people if they try to cross the limit. So raise your voice and help ladies in public transport.
Though child marriages in India has been prohibited under the Child Marriage Act, 2006, it is still practised in many parts of India more particularly in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The thoughts of being punished by the law do not deter them.
When I visited Rajasthan for the first time I was shocked to meet little girls of less than ten years already married and staying in the parental house to 'learn the so called household works'. It was so ridiculous seeing these little girls living like that, they were not even attending schools which was located in the village itself. These girls were married off on the same day their elder sisters were married off. It is a tradition in Rajasthan to marry off sisters of one family to the brothers of another family on the same day. This is done to reduce the marriage expenses.Unfortunately, usually the brides are so young that they are not even aware of what is happening to even protest about it.
After the marriage, the eldest daughter would leave for her in law's house but the younger daughters would usually stay back to be 'trained in household work' for few more years. But the parents would be compelled to send her for few days in her husband's house if he so desires.
I once came across one such child woman in a remote village of Rajasthan. Only sixteen years of age at that time, she was already a mother of three year old son. As per the tradition, she was married off on the same day as three of her elder sisters. She was only three years of age at the time of marriage. She came to live in her husband house when she was around twelve years of age, but was not mentally prepared to raise a family. Things worsened after the birth of her son and she found it difficult to deal with her wailing son or her unapproving family members. She preferred the company of girls of her age who were yet to live in their husband's house. And for all the laughters and the good times that she wanted to share with them, she was labelled a misfit woman by others. Some even went to the extent of questioning her character. She was not the only one. There were many others like her who were trying to come in terms with their lost childhood and innocence...
Yes! women wants her own chair and her own thoughts. But many societies keep male chavnism till today. But every women wants freedom and some honour. They don't created for slave duties. They also eager to achieve big things.
They does not like control by others. They don't like praising. They only want honor. They have some ideas and thoughts. They make the world with full of peace once again. In now a days we often cross the word 'Feminism'.
Feminism has become the fashion of today. But even those who claim themselves to be the activists of feminism don’t know for sure, what it really means. Most of them take criticizing man for feminism, some take claiming equality with man in everything for feminism. But in fact the concept is neither of these. It is something more than these superfluous things.
Have women e been put to discrimination, ever since they become part o0f history. Generally speaking women are inferior to men in physical strength only. But sometimes even this is a wrong conception. Any way, in all other respects they can claim equality with men. Feminism is the movement trying to establish this fact. Discrimination against women is practiced in the fields of education, job, profession and the like. Many societies even today treat them as inferior to men in several respects. Feminism is an awakening against this practice of discrimination and negligence.
Feminist movement has its roots all over the world. Women every where face discriminatory problems. Since the movement can contribute a lot in liberating women from the age long bondages and sufferings, exploitation and negligence, the movement got warm welcome and high promotion from radicals.
Feminism is better understood these days. It is not affected boldness or modernism. It is not challenging the man or refusing to admit his place in the society. On the other hand, it is coexistence and sharing man’s potentials. It is admitting her limitations while being proud of her talents and accomplishments.
In short, feminism stands for recognition of women as having equal role as men in maintaining and promoting life in the modern society.
The problem of poverty has been one of the major concerns of economists and governments over time. This has been an acute problem ever since the time man started settled life. Modern governments adopt numerous methods to fight this problem effectively.
We believe in the concept of a welfare state. It invariably aims at prosperity of its people. Eradication of poverty is one of its declared objectives. However, it is easier said than done. It is not possible to curb away poverty all of a sudden. Through various measures, and with the whole hearted support of the public, the government can effect a betterment of the situation first. With the effective implementation of welfare laws and through a well- planned scheme, the acuteness of the problem can be alleviated.
Poverty leaves families in low standard of living. Even the requirement of daily bread cannot be met. In such a situation life becomes miserable. Poverty drives individuals and families to committing suicide. Poor and inadequate food, diseases, poor and unhygienic living conditions etc. are associated with poverty.
The government and other organizations have formulated and launched various projects to create job opportunities, thereby to fight poverty. Thus new job opportunities are created on one side. But at the mean time, population also keeps increasing. Birth control has crucial role in effecting poverty alleviation. The size of the family must be maintained small. Then only the little resources available could be used beneficially among the members of the family.
Awareness programmers, spread of education, job creating measures, vocational training etc. can alleviate the problem to an extent.
Our country is mother land. Give it the same love and respect as you give to your mother.
When the Chinese invaded India, they came across the Himalayas. Since they were well prepared with better guns and military equipments, the Indian soldiers who were guarding the northern frontier were taken by surprise. The Indians were united to defend their motherland. A collage student from Mumbai wrote to Jawaharlal Nehru that he was ready to serve in the Indian army and to lay down his life country. He signed the letter with his blood.
Pandit Nehru that letter to some of hi friends and said, ``here is another young man who says that he is ready to lie down his life for his country. But if ask him to do something easier like studying his lessons and taking advantage of the opportunities that come his way, he will refuse.’ Our duty towards our country is not only to fight with the enemies, but o perform all our duties in a perfect manner.
