In India, we have many religions. We also celebrate many festivals.
*Different people of India call God by different names. There are Hindus who worship Iswar in temples. Hindus call their prayers-Pooja. Holy books –Vedas
*There are Muslims who worship Allah in mosques. They call their prayer Namaz. Holy book is Quran.
*There are Christians who worship God in churches. Holy book – bible.
*The Sikhs who worship in Gurdwar. Holy book is Guru Granth.
- This is a temple. It is the place of worship of the Hindus. The Hindus celebrates Dasara, and Diwali. Famous temple at Tirumala Tirupati lord Venkateswara temple.
*Dasara
Dasara celebrates the victory or Ram over Ravana or good over bad. Around the same time, Durga pooja is celebrated in India.
*Diwali
It is festival if lights and Lakshmi pooja. They have great fun with fireworks and crackers.
All hoses and shops are lit up beautifully with candles and oil lamps.
- This is a church. It is the place of worship of the Christians. The Christians celebrate Christmas, 25th December. Holy place Jesus birth place Bethlehem and church Vatican City.
*The whole world celebrates the Christian festival of Christmas. A small evergreen fir tree is decorated beautiful and set up in many houses. Churches are beautifully done up and special prayers are offered there.
- This is a mosque. It is the place of worship of the Muslims. The Muslims celebrates Bacreed and Ramzan. Muslims holy place Mecca and Medina.
*Id is celebrated by Muslims all over the world. In the morning, people dress up well and go to the mosque for Namaz- group prayer.
- This is Gurdwar. It is the place of worship of the Sikhs. The Sikhs celebrate Guru Nanak Jayanti. Golden temple at Amritsar.
*Guruparbs or the birthdays of the Guru are the important festivals of Sikhs. The birthday of Guru Nanak Dev, who started Sikhism, is celebrated with great enjoyment.
*We have other religions and festivals, too, in India,
*All religions are good. They all teach us to be good and loving.
*We must respect all religions.
There are many more festivals in India. They tell us that we should live together as one people. We should respect other religions as we do our own. Only then can festival bring peace and happiness to us.
We are brothers and sisters. We are all on in one unity.
