A poor man lived in a small city. He toiled throughout the day to ear his living. He had son. The poor man worked very hard to educate his son. When the song grew up, the poor man got a good job for him an also got him married.
Some years passed, the son earned a lot of money. He bought a big new bungalow for himself. In the backyard of this bungalow, he built a small cottage for his father to live in.
The son and his wife did not care for the old man. They always ill-treated him. They never gave him good food to eat or good clothes to wear. But the poor old man never grumbled or complained. He was happy to see that his son and daughter-in law were happy.
After some years, the daughter-in low gave birth to a cute little baby bay. As he boy grew up., he became very fond of his grandfather. He knew that his grandfather also loved him very much.
The winter had set in. it was very cold. The old man lay in his cottage shivering with cold. The son had given him a blanket, but t was torn. The grand son could not bear to see his grandfather shivering with cold. So he took out a new blanket and as he was going to his grandfather’s cottage with it, his mother stopped him. The grandson said, ``mother, grand –father is extremely cold. I am going to give him this blanket.’’ His mother was angry on him.
Years passed, and the grandson grew up to be a handsome young boy. He often wondered why his parents ill-treated his grandfather. One day, he made a plan. He took his father’s clothes, tore them and rolled them in mud. He then took a blanket, tore t and rolled it in mud. Then he made a small bundle of these dirty clothes.
Seeing his father shocked. He said, `` what is this, leave it?’’
Father! I am collecting all these clothes for you and mother. Like my grandfather, you too, will grow old one day. When you are not capable of working and earning money, these clothes will be useful to you. My grandfather also wears such dirty cloches and leads a miserable life in the small cottage.’’
The father was stunned to hear these words. He now realized that children always follow what they saw as a tradition of the house. The mother understood that her son had observed how they treated his grandfather. Both of them realized their mistake and repented.
The son and the daughter –in-law went to the old man long with their son. They felt at the old man’s feet and apologized for the ill-treatment meted out to him. The daughter in –law was so as ashamed of herself that she started crying bitterly.
The son said, ``Father! Please forgive us. You worked very hard to bring me up and education e. but have failed in my duties as a son. I have ill treated you. Kindly forgive me’’.
The grandfather said, ``Dear children! I have forgiven you. God bless you. But please see that you never make my virtuous grandson unhappy. See that you do not hurt his feelings. May god grant your wishes!
