Mr. Bhagat worked in bank in Chennai. Many years back, he was promoted and transferred to New Delhi. He now lives in Delhi city with his family. His there sons, Shyam, Ravi and Madhu grew up in Delhi. As time passed, they found good jobs and got married. Shyam is a software engineer at the same place, Ravi is a collage professor and Madhu moved to Canada to work in multi –national company (MNC).
Shyam and Krishna still live in the same house in Delhi with their families. Bheema is Shyam’s son. Bheema and his cousin kavita go the same school. They spend a lot of time together.
Bheema and kavita not remember meeting their uncle Madhu and his family because they live in Canada. They left India when Bheema and kavita were very young. But the children do recognize uncle Madhu and his family from the photographs that he sends from Canada.
Sometimes Bheema and kavita chat with uncle Madhu’s family over the internet.
Yesterday, their cousin munni did the ballet dance for them in front of the web camera.
Family skills
Every member in the family has a special quality that makes him/her important. They differ in their books, behavior and habits. We must respect them for what they are and for the skills they have.
In the Bhagat family Bheema loves painting while kavita is fond of music. Their grandmother knows classical music and enjoys folk songs. She often gives kavita lessons in jai Sankar dance academy. Mornings begin with Jia Sankar dance academy near to the Bhagat house.
Munni, Madhu’s daughter has interest in singing. She is learning western song at her school in Canada.
Last moth, Bheema’s baby brother was born. It was becoming difficult to accommodate the expending family in the house. Hence, Bheema’s family gifted to another house close by.
Many changes are taking place in Bheema’s life as family has shifted into a new house. Bheema’s now belongs to a nuclear family. He misses his dada, dadi, uncle, aunty and most of all, kavita they have promised to meet each other every weekend.
Bheema has made new friends. They play in a ground cricket every day in a park near Bheema’s house. He likes his new neighborhood.
Displace from home
Savita works as maid in the Bhagat household. Her family was displaced from their home in the village. This was because the government had decided to build a dam on the river that flowed near their village. Her husband, who was once farmer, now works as a daily wage labor in a cloth mill on the outskirts of the city. Their children are not happy here. They miss the good and peaceful of the village.
Like Savita, many people are displaced every year. They face numerous problems and hardships when they leave homes to resettle in a new place.
Ranga is gardener in the Bhagat house. He is a young man who migrated from Andhra Pradesh to Delhi in search of a job. He lives in a slum and has to change his home frequently. The municipal corporation authorities break down the slums from time to time because they are illegal hutments. Life is quite hard for him. He feels very lonely because family lives in the village.
