Hi friends, in this article I would like to discuss about PERSEVERANCE, with you.
“Perseverance does not come from our power, yet it comes within our power”, says St. Francis de sales.
People say that a genius is 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration.
King Robert Bruce of Scotland, pursued after a battle in which he had suffered defeat by the enemy, took refuge in a lonely cave, and began to think out his plans. Tempted to despair, he had almost lost heart and decided to give up, when his eyes were directed to a spider in the cave, carefully and painfully attempting to make its way up to a slender thread to its web in the corner above. The king watched as it made several unsuccessful attempts to get to the top, and thought as it fell back to the bottom again and again, how its efforts typified his own unsuccessful efforts to gain the victory and rid Scotland of its enemies. He never seemed to get to the place at which he was aiming just like the spider. But he continued to watch the spider’s movements.
Steadily, steadily, inch by inch,
Higher and higher he got,
Till a neat little run, at the very last pinch,
Put him into his native cot,
The king took courage and persevered and the example of the spider brought its reward.
How to attain persistent quotient?
Perseverance is said to be a starting point towards success or a steadfast pursuit of an aim. It means continuing the process of attaining the goal in spite of the opposition. To persevere is to be determined to achieve the goal. Perseverance tells about one’s character on the type of life one is living. It is the launching pad to success. Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not, unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Perseverance causes pain and suffering but it leads to perfection. Persistent persons always look ahead. They are very optimistic. Failures do not matter to them. Persistent people always learn to be independent and they are creative and attempt to be self-sufficient. It adds quality to one’s life.
