A story....................
Make up
My best friend, Shivani was getting married today and we were all busy with the celebrations of her marriage. Everyone looked so happy except for Shivan's father who was under some tension which none of us could know. We tried to ask uncle if we can be of any help, please don't hesitate. Shivani had never met her husband but still she had no complaints. To Shivani, her parents were like God and she didn't have any suspicions about their choice. She was looking very beautiful today.
Shivan's mother was wearing a blue colour sari and a lot of jewellery, everyone was praising her choice but to me the heap of jewellery was something that looked odd. The beautician hadn't yet come so she instructed me to enquire about her on the telephone. I telephoned her and she told me that she was on the way. Aunty took a sigh of relief. After about half an hour the beautician lady was on the door.
Shivani was looking very sweet and beautiful in her bridal dress just like a fairy. Some tiny drops of tears could be seen coming out of her eyes. Beautician was instructing her not to cry otherwise make-up will come down. I wiped her tears with a handkerchief. Ladies sangeet was going on in the hall and everybody was enjoying it.
In the meantime I saw uncle little more tense and wiping off his sweat on forehead. He was sweating profusely and suddenly he fell down on the floor. Everyone rushed to see what had happened? Aunty brought a glass of water and sprinkled some drops of water on his forehead. Within few moments he opened up his eyes but was looking very tense again. He was crying badly but not telling anything.
Tears were rolling down his eyes and he was holding Shivani's hand in his hand. It seemed as if he is trying to talk to Shivani but the words were not coming out. In very feeble voice he fluttered some words....Shivani, my dear child, Anil had met an accident in the morning and now the news has come that he is no more. I didn't tell it earlier and stopped the celebrations because I was informed that it was a minor injury and he would be fine after antiseptic dressing.
Shivani couldn't speak anything. She just sat on the floor with her head on her folded legs. No body had the courage to lift her up. Her make up was getting washed with her tears but the now the beautician lady was not asking her not to do so.
