People have discovered the usefulness and profitableness of cooperative stores and cooperative societies. They are the unions of people who work together for production or distribution of goods and commodities. They equally share the profit or loss.
The cooperative system is very useful in agriculture. Farmers till their lands together, sow sees, grow corns and harvest them. They take the produce to the village cooperative stores and get them sold. They share the profit equally themselves. They also share the expenses of cultivation equally.
There are many cooperative societies for textiles. Weavers bring their cloths to the cooperative societies and get them sold. The profit is equally shared. There are cooperative banks and cooperative shops.
The members of a cooperative store or society can avail advance amounts from them. They will be given some financial aid by the stores of societies in time of flood, famine or slump. This cooperative system saves them from starvation. The cooperative system of working together in production minimizes the individual’s tedious work. They get financial aid from the cooperative societies and stores to buy tools, manure and insecticides and to hire tractors. Besides, they need not engage middle or commission agents to sell their commodities. The merchants directly come to their cooperative stores or societies to buy the goods or commodities like paddy and textiles.
