How to succeed in an interview? It is the most important question of every student. To them here are some useful tips which will surely guide them in a right path to succeed in their career and to lead a happy life.
1. Be clean, neat and tidy.
Please make sure that you have a good haircut and your nails are clean and trimmed well. Comb your hair well and keep a towel in your pocket to remove sweat, oil, dirt etc. from your face and forehead. And also insure that no bad smell emanates from your body or dress. We are sure that we can not change our face. But we can certainly do a lot of things to improve it. But never create a horror look. Your appearance should show that you are an orderly person.
2. Be conscious about dress
You must be well suited to the occasion. It should not be gaudy or showy. Please don’t forget to wash your dress cleanly and to iron it well before the interview day. The collar and handcuffs of your shirt must be clean. They should not be found wrinkled in the ends. And wearing socks and shoes will make your dressing perfect. But never forget to polish your shoe well. Because all these are fatal in creating a first impression upon you. The Interview Board will carefully scan what you have worn and your way of wearing it. If all these are well done you can begin the interview with your right foot forward. So it is very essential that you want to present yourselves neatly and smartly dressed.
3. Keep politeness, manners and courtesy.
Because it will help you to turn the interview in to your favor. Never enter the room with out permission. So please knock at the door and ask “May I coming, Sir”. And enter the room only receiving permission from those who are inside. Enter slowly and respectfully but confidently. After entering greet them according to the time of the day, e.g. ‘Good morning, Sir,’ ‘Good afternoon, Sir’ and so on. While answering their questions you should be respectful and say ‘Sir’ while addressing the board members. Don’t rush to your chair. Wait till you are offered a seat. What will you do if you are not offered a seat? Don’t worry, continue in that position and answer the questions from there.
4. Avoid mannerism.
This is the usual mistakes we do at the time of interview. We are slaves to our mannerism. But you must avoid it in frond of the interview board. Sit straight and look forward. Do not keep shaking your knees, tapping on the floor and so on. Stop playing with your dress and do not lean on the table and rest your elbows there. In short you want to avoid all your unnecessary movements.
5. Smile and be cheerful
keep your face smiling while entering the room, greeting the board members and answering to their questions. You will never happen to be yawning. You must look keen, interested, happy and enthusiastic.
6. Speak distinctly and audibly.
Speak perfectly and clearly. Do not either shout or mumble. Make sure that what you speak is reachable to the ears of every board member. Give attention to every member while you speak. Your voice must sparkle and vibrate with spirit.
7. Be attentive through out the interview.
Listen carefully to what the board members say and never ask them to repeat any thing. You should be attentive. And never interrupt while they talk. Give them time to ask you questions amidst you answer to their questions.
8. Avoid arguments.
It is wise to avoid arguments with the board members. But you can express your views with facts. And avoid criticizing others. If you find your mistake admit it in frond of them and apologize immediately. Do not be self-opinionated.
9. Never boast yourselves.
State only the facts about you and be modest while describing your achievements. If you do not know any answers be frank and tell them so. But try to win attention of the listeners while you speak. You should never become a bore.
10. Act with confidence, and be hopeful.
Be positive and optimistic in your look. Remember that the criteria for your success in the interview are not what you say but how you say it.
