We often go on buying things and after a certain time instead of beautifying our house or decorating our office desk we end up making it look cluttered. But we forget that leading a clutter free life can help us lessen stress in our lives. Yes, this idea may not go well with many of us, but this is the truth, less is more even with the things, knick-knacks here and there. We can do away with inappropriate items, too many things in our home, home-office, and office desk to breathe free and get a clutter free life.
Why de-cluttering is important?
De-cluttering or mess free area is important because of the following reasons:
It distracts our thought-process and mind: Too much mess in the house neither looks good to our eyes, nor to the visitors nor makes our home and home office appealing. No matter how beautifully you have decorated your house, if there are too many things around, it is bound to look messy and cluttered. Spending time in a cluttered area is bound to increase our stress levels. Clutter affects all our senses and makes it difficult for us to concentrate on the task at hand.
The idea is to make things organized, if there are too many things, which you can’t part with; keep it inside a cabinet or a chest. What doesn’t show doesn’t look messy. Too much clutter also makes us less efficient.
Clutter overshadows our thought process: An untidy and unorganized place of work or home makes us mentally exhausted. It gives an impression that our work will never get over. It slows down our thinking process. On the other hand a clean and tidy home and workstation can give a cooling effect on our eyes and will facilitate thinking. Make cleaning your home, home-office and workplace a regular habit, clean and de-clutter these places on a particular day. Make it an agenda to clean your home, office, work place on every Friday or any day as per your suitability. Keep a flower at your workstation in a small glass or pot. A flower can soothe and calm your senses and help you get creative with your thoughts and ideas.
Clean your home; keep the decorative items to a minimum. Keep your desk or table on which you work neat and clean. Keep a flower vase, a small flower vase will help to beat the work pressure. Try to change the flowers on a regular basis. Try to keep papers if any inside a folder. Put the things that have outgrown its use in a garbage bin. It is important for anyone to keep their workplace clean. Similarly, try to clean all the rooms of your home, one at a time, divide the work if possible. Keep things at the place where it is meant to be kept. This makes everything look organized and less messy. A clean and organized home, office, home office, and workstation any day looks much better and comfortable to work.
