Body language means some postures which speak while we don’t speak anything. Sometimes there are some unspoken actions which speak itself without any verbal communication among people. Its not necessary that a person understand with it sometime people may not be knowing it. There are some basic interpretation that can be applied to unfold these unspoken words. Here are some basics:
Eyes : If someone don’t see in another eyes while talking to him/her while speaking is interpreted as dishonesty or hiding something. Also changing focus of your eyes too is interpreted as same so we must avoid it and should greet and speak to a person with eye contact. Similarly if you are in a group then you must look in to everyone’s eyes and should not miss anyone and acknowledge them with eye contact as well.
Head Shaking: If people are shaking their head while you speak it means they are agreeing with you. This is the common thing which people understand but some times the shaking of their head too makes confusion for example once I was in Maharashtra the way auto driver used to shake their head when I used to ask them if their auto is empty most of the time used to look as if they are denying but they were not denying actually. So one must see the facial expressions too while concluding to anything by anyone’s body language.
Smile: Smile itself means that you are welcoming someone with heart. Consider an example when you enter someone’s house and the host passes smile at you it means he/she is happy to see you coming at his/her home and if he/she does not and make some awkward face that means host has somewhere in his/her heart hatred/ ill feeling against you.
Attitude: People can easily identify that you are not interested in him/her if you lose focus of what they say. Sometimes it happens when the teacher is giving lecture she/he may easily find out the people by this only who is not interested and getting bored by the lecture.
Standing direction: When people are standing in a group and listening to someone there are certainly some people who hide themselves behind others it means they are not interested in what you are saying. One must when in a group try to contact each and every person with eye contact while talking which signifies that you are keen to talk to everyone.
Arms folded/legs crossed: This posture is seen as the end of conversation. So one should do it while conversation is going on. One should hang his/her arms freely and should not cross legs.
Leaning : Sitting or standing, leaning towards the speaker is viewed as an interest. So if the person is leaning towards the person who is speaking while listening it means the person is interested in listening to the person.
Yawning : Some people yawn when they are listening to someone which signifies that they are not interested in listening to the topic.
So these are the few body languages which I know. But that’s for sure every posture of ours signifies something and carries its meaning and we should learn it so that some body may not take different meaning like if we are even interested in listening to someone then we should not stand in a posture which may look to the speaker that we are not interested in him/her.
There are some other body languages which signifies something which I may have not mentioned or I may have missed. If any one knows some more then he/she is requested to write it down in the comment section.
