The heart has the shape of a heart?
The heart does not have the classic shape of a heart as we draw. It has more the shape of a pear and the size of a clenched fist. It's in the chest, slightly left of center. You can feel it through your ear on someone's chest to record and listen to the heartbeat. Or you can try to find your heart from your hand on the left side of your chest to make it feel right. The heart is divided into a left and a right ventricle. Each side has an upper and lower chamber. Between these chambers are valves, which open the blood from one side to the other to let go and close to prevent blood from flowing back. The heartbeat you hear, is actually the sound of the valves open and close.
Where does the blood go when it leaves the heart?
Blood leaves the heart to the left and flows within a system of blood vessels, which we call arteries. Arteries carry oxygen rich blood to the tissues in the body. Other arteries, veins, bringing the used blood back to the right side of the heart and then to the lungs, allowing blood to take oxygen again.
The functioning of the heart caused by the brains electrical messages to the nerves of the heart. A message ensures that the two upper chambers push the blood through the valves to the two larger lower chambers. Another message ensures that these two rooms out into the blood vessel presses.
What happens when the heart stops beating?

If this happens, first aid, and the heart starts beating again. A special device gives the heart an electric shock to ensure that rooms go to work. If a blocked artery is the cause, this can be replaced by a vein from the leg.
What is the pulse?
A doctor can feel the pulse of a patient to control his heartbeat. You can easily feel your pulse on the inside of your wrist or your neck. These are places where close to the skin surface blood vessels are located. Your pulse shows how your heart beats because when the heart pumps, shock waves through the blood vessel.
