If there is server bleeding or any swelling, clean the wound with sterilized cotton wool, water and an antiseptic? Apply a sterilized dressing. Do not touch the wound with fingers.
Press the bleeding part with a clean cotton or cloth pad to stoop the blood. Then tie a tight bandage over the pad. Don’t move the victim until medical help is available. If the cuts are on a limb, raise it above the rest of the body. Put an ice-pack over the wound. Give water to the victim every half an hour. Once the bleeding stops clean the wound with an antiseptic and bandage it. Dirt and flies should not enter the wound as they cause infection.
If a person faints, make him lie down with his head low. This makes extra blood reach his brain. Let him rest quietly.
Insect bites or stings are painful. Apply a paste of backing soda and cold cream on the affected part to give relief. A soft pad soaked in ammonia water also gives relief. Apply calamine lotion if there is itching.
