In this article, I am giving you a recipe of how poori-masala is prepared. Poori-masala is a typical Indian dish made in every part of the country and it is commonly served as a breakfast dish. Though a little oil consuming, it is really a tasty dish. Children love them the most. I am providing you an easy method to prepare it. A simple coconut chuney is also provided.
Poori
Ingredients:
Wheat flour - 2.5 cups
Salt and water - As needed
Baking soda - a pinch
Egg - 1 optional
Ghee - 1 tsp
Oil for frying - 250 ml
Method of preparation
Add salt to water and boil it. Then add baking soda to it and stir well.
Add this water to flour and prepare the batter by adding ghee. Keep it for half hour.
Make small balls out of it and spread it to make round pooris.
Fry both sides in hot oil and serve hot with potato curry.
Potato masala
Ingredients:
Potato cut into pieces - 1/2 kg
Onion - 1/4 kg
Green chillies - 4
Turmeric powder - 1.5 tsp
Curry leaves - As needed
Shallots chopped - 3 or 4
Red chillies cut into 2-3 parts - 3
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Urad daal (Black gram) - 1/4 tsp
Oil - 2-3 tsp
Method of preparation:
Add turmeric powder, onion, green chillies and salt to potato and cook it well by adding sufficient water. Then mix it and grind it well by a spoon.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it splutters, add urad daal, red chillies and curry leaves.
Then fry shallots in it and add it to the curry. Stir the contents well.
You can garnish the curry with a little coriander leaves. (Optional)
Coconut chutney:
Ingredients:
Coconut scrapped -1/2
Green chilli - 1
Shallots - 1/4 cup or Onion - 1/4 piece
Salt - As per taste
Garlic - 2 cloves
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves - A little
Coconut oil - 1/4 - 1/2 tsp
Method of preparation:
Add coconut, green chilli, shallots/onion, salt and garlic to a mixer and add sufficient water to grind it. You can make it a good paste or just half done, according to your wish. Then transfer it to a serving bowl.
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When it splutters add curry leaves to it and pour this oil to your curry and stir the contents well.
Your poori masala with chutney is ready to serve. You can also add a mixed masala curry as side dish.
