The diseases are generally caused by the germs. The germs are very minute and tiny organisms and are not visible by naked eyes. They are present in the raw, stale or rotten things. They invade us and the person whose body lacks resistance.
Unhygienic habits and in sanitary conditions of living are one of the foremost causes of disease. Dust and dirty carry germs of infection. In order to keep us healthy, we should always observe the principles of personal and public hygiene and keep our body and surroundings clean. We should take bath daily and change our underclothing every day. We should always use a handkerchief when we cough or sneeze. When people coughs or sneeze, he spreads out certain droplets in the air. These droplets enter into body of another person through breathing and make him sick.
Contaminated food also causes diseases. Files play an important role in contaminating our food. They sit on dirt and fifth and pick up diseases germs with them. Later, they sit in the exposed food and transfer their germs to the food. When we eat such food, we fall sick. Therefore, we should never buy any food from vendors.
Pollution is a cause of diseases. The air we breathe is polluted or spoiled by smoke which comes out from kitchens, factories, vehicles and railway engines. The smoke irritates our eyes and makes our breathing difficult. Polluted air is injurious to our lungs.
Over-pollution is also a source of air pollution. Ever-increasing births daily exhale carbon dioxide which makes the air more and more polluted.
When have learnt that obtained from natural sources is not safe to drink. It contains many living and non- living impurities. Indiscriminate use of sources of water like tanks, ponds, rivets, etc. polluted water further. Rain and floods also pollute water. If we use water as is available from natural sources, we also fall sick.
Insects and worms are also sources of diseases. Insects like mosquitoes. Bed bugs, lice etc. such the blood of the people when they bite. When they bite a sick person, they suck blood containing diseases germs. These disease germs are transmitted in to the body of the healthy person whenever they bite are transmitted into the body of the healthy person whenever they bite a next person.
A part from insects, worms like round-worms and hook- worms also cause diseases. These insects are very dangerous for the healthy. In India, most of the children suffer from round-worms.
Injuries also caused diseases. Life is full uncertainties. Accident can occur at any time and at any place. You can get hurt at home or in school or on the playground or while crossing the toads. Cuts, burns, abrasions and fraction are very common.
Malnutrition is another important cause of diseases. Optimum nutrition is essential for health. In India, we do not have enough food to feed each and every mouth. The growth of population is alarming. Lack or proper nourishment results in a number of children’s diseases like rickets, scurvy night-blindness, anemia and beriberi. Tuberculosis is also the result of malnutrition.
