Children are fond of snacks more than food. They love to eat their evening snacks at lunch. But some times snacks like biscuits and noodles make them feel filled in the evening so that they skip the meal. But this is not a healthy practice. It only deteriorates their overall health. It causes a disorder in the digestive system. On the healthier way parents must focus on providing some healthy lip smacking snacks so that it does not reduce the hunger of the children but also makes the evening time interesting. I am so fond of cooking as a habit and also as an art that every person should know. Because it makes livelihood. Thus as I discovered some interesting recipes in my kitchen experience I would like to share it here. They not only take less time in preparation but also giving soul happiness in accomplishing things.
My first recipe will be wheat flour halwa. It is very simple in preparation terms and it is very healthy also since it is made of wheat flour. Many children do not like rotis also. For them this will be a treat. Heat some ghee on the pan and add some nuts which ever you like. Then add the wheat flour to the desired quantity. Then roast the flour lightly and slowly in low flame. This will make it turn brown color. Then add sugar to the desired quantity. Then add some water to it. Do not pour excess of water. This will spoil the dish. Just pour a limited amount till it turns semi solid. Then keep stirring it till it gets a semi solid consistency. Then add some more ghee and halwa will be ready to serve. serve it garnished with nuts and fruits.
Some children will not like sweets. They will prefer to eat spicy snacks. I have a recipe even for them. In south India it is called pagoda. The recipe requires gram flour, onions, chili powder , salt, water, oil. First take required amount of gram flour say hundred grams. Add some salt and chilly powder to it. Do not add more of it. Just make it medium. Then cut onions into small pieces and add it to gram flour. Then sprinkle some water and make it to a hard paste. It you like you can also add curry leaves. Then heat oil in the pan. When it is hot enough add the mixture in small quantities. Then make it deep fried and take it. Leave it to turn brown and crispy. Then you will get tasty pagodas. Serve it hot for best taste. With had with tea it will make a best combination.
