Saving fuel
1) Food must not be over –cooked, over or reheated.
2) Unclean vessels use up more energy. Clean a vessel thoroughly before use. Use pressure cookers. The width of the vessels should be larger than the size of the flame.
3) Cover the vessels with a lid when cooking. If bottom of the vessels is copper coated, it saves energy. Use of small burners and smaller vessels also help us to save energy. Keep the gas burners clean.
4) Plan a little before cooking. Use water as much as is needed and not more. Reduce the flame when the contents come to boil. Shallow vessels that are also wide will save a lot of energy. Regulate the flow of breeze to make optimum use of the fuel (flame).
5) Increase the efficiency of firewood. Ensure that the fire burns brightly. Arrange for the smoke to go out easily. Begin using solar heaters and cookers.
Saving electricity
1) Switch off all electrical appliances like tube lights, fans, television and computer. Use electronic chokes in tube light. Dust them periodically. This will make the lights glow brighter. Replace bulbs with compact fluorescent lights (CFL) to cut energy costs. Regulators of fans will help useless energy. Use only standard and good quality equipment. When we are together in one or two rooms, lights and fans in the other rooms can be switched off. There should be numbers on each switch indicating its connection to the appliance it controls. That way, people will not try the wrong switches and waste power. The `earthing’ should be with the right size of wires and must be checked very three months.
2) We can reduce the consumption of electricity by poor ventilation, so that we can avoid the use of air –conditioners and lights.
3) Reduce the use of refrigerators by getting fresh vegetables and fruits. O not store food in fridge. Always prepare fresh food.
4) Reduce the use of the drier in the washing machine. Water heaters need not be on for a long time if people do not give large time gaps between one another’s baths. Similarly, iron clothes one after another quickly.
5) On the west and east our uses, we need to plant large trees like neem and peepal. This will increase a shade for the sunlight, not allowing heating up of our houses.
6) Plant deciduous trees like the almond. We can get hade in summer when the tree has leaves and warmth in winter when the tree sheds them.
7) Household appliances should be used carefully. Use only standard ISI marked good quality electrical appliance and switches.
Saving energy in agriculture
1) If the outlet of the pump is wider, the foot value will open better and pump water more efficiently. Besides, in this situation, the pump also requires less power of diesel.
2) Wider pipes reduce drag and save power. In pipes having fewer diameters, though the water pressure increases, the resultant load increases consumption three times.
3) A pipeline with fewer turns is more efficient and consumes less. In tube wells and agricultural wells, the pipe should be lowered as much as possible and taken as close to the water as possible.
4) Wider pipes reduce drag and save power. In pipes having less though the water pressure increases, the resultant load increases consumption.
5) A pipeline with fewer turns is more efficient and consumes as much less. In tube wells and agricultural wells, the pipe should be lowered as much as possible and taken as close to the water a possible.
6) There should not be too much smoke from a motor engine. The lubricant oil should be of a suitable grade. The engine should have oil and air filters. These must be cleaned regularly.
7) Diesel should not leak out from tractors. More smoke means more loads, and signifies a waste of energy. The nozzles and the air filter should be checked regularly. The engine should be serviced periodically. Ploughing the soil using tractor should be systematic and done uniformly and not randomly. It should be done without stopping in between. The land should be ploughed in a manner that is diagonal to the surrounding farms. Worms. Worn out tyres of tractor also increase fuel consumption.
8) To ensure correct use. Choose a water pump set of proper rating. Capacitors should be used to improve the efficiency of electrical appliances and to reduce wastage of fuel. This also increases the life of the appliance.
