This topic explains about the history of new technology named sharepoint. Nowadays most of them can hear the word sharepoint. Sharepoint is now becoming most wanted technology in big organizations. what sharepoint do is manage all level of employees under one umberlla. that umberlla is called sharepoint. Microsoft has release first version of sharepoint, called SharePoint Team Services. STS could run on Windows 2000 Server or Windows XP. After that Windows SharePoint Services 2.0(freeware software) was marketed as an upgrade to SharePoint Team Services, WSS is completely redesigned application. SharePoint Team Services stored documents in ordinary file storage, keeping document metadata in a database. Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 on the other hand, stores both the document and the metadata in a database, and supports basic document versioning for items in Document Libraries. Service Pack 2 for WSS added support for SQL Server 2005 and the use of the .NET Framework 2.0. Windows sharepoint services 2.0 is freeware software come along with windows server 2000. Sharepoint portal server 2003 is actual core sharepoint built on WSS2.0 which gives full fledge functionality. Next version is windows sharepoint services 3.0 is also freeware comes with windows server 2003. In this version microsoft integrated lot of office functionalities so they named as Microsoft Offiece Sharepoint Server ie. MOSS2007 built upon WSS3.0 Upcoming sharepoint version is Microsoft sharepoint 2010(twenty ten) We shall discuss on this more in future

KINDLE! The next revolution in reading.

No comments on “KINDLE! The next revolution in reading.”
Like any self-respecting reader, I have a healthy collection of books, and consequently an overflowing bookcase. I also live in Mumbai, where all the enemies of books namely, heat, dust, humidity and above all shortage of space exist in abundance. I try to keep my books well, without tears, creases, folds, dog-ears or any form of marking. Given that much of my reading takes place on the trains and stations of Mumbai’s local train system, this is far from easy to do, especially when one hand is occupied in desperately holding on to any available support for the duration of the commute. My success rate at book maintenance is beat lower too. The development of e-ink and electronic paper technologies has therefore been of great interest to me, and the growth of the e-book reader market too. The Amazon Kindle, now available in India and many other countries around the world, allows users to browse Amazon.com and download e-books directly on their device either over WI-FI or over WhisperNet, which connects to Amazon over wireless telephone networks such as GPRS/Edge or 3G. One can download e-books onto a computer and sync them with your Kindle, and there’s no need for itunes. The current edition of the kindle which I happen to see at one of stores here, offers 2 GB of storage, which is approximately 1,500 books. Now that’s a library I can easily accommodate in my Mumbai apartment. Though I have still not bought one, but what I could see with it in my hands at the store is that the viewing screen comfortable 6” and display as announced during its launch is exactly like ink on paper. As told and experienced by me at the stores it has an text to speech feature which reads out the text of an e-book through a onboard speaker which is very similar to PDF format that is in currency on our laptops or desktop. It also features a mp3 player. The file format is AZW that supports many readability enhancements on the Kindle namely page orientation, text size and others. It also protects PDF file format that are unprotected. Kindle is currently selling at INR 12,000. However, the e-books are required to be purchased separately which ranges nearly around USD 3 per book which INR 150. Hope you enjoyed the article!

Faster Web Browser

Faster Web Browser

Chrome is gaining so much popularity as a browser for all sorts of surfing, including online trading etc. We all know that Google stores all our information regarding search queries and mails.

I personally would not trust Google Chrome for the purpose of secure surfing. IE 8, on the other hand, is far more trustworthy when it comes to that sort stuff online.

Ie8 and opera are good but chrome seems to be faster that these two.

The accessing speed to any site depends on many factors, and one of the factor is browser also, chrome is relatively faster but needs good configuration Pc for supporting it.Fire fox, opera are relatively good.

Firefox is little slow when multi tabs are opened. Like 10 tabs opened and working. But opera, ie, chrome others do not have this problem.

Computer Animation

No comments on “Computer Animation”

The word animation deals with the generation, sequencing, and display (at a specified rate) of a set of images (called frames) to create an effect of visual change or motion, similar to a movie film. Animation is an important component of multimedia, because just as a picture is a powerful way to illustrate information, a small animation clip is even more powerful and useful for illustrating concepts, which involve movement. For example, in the multimedia application meant for educating small children. Without animation, it will be very difficult to explain such concepts by using only still images or text.

Animation is often confused with video may because both deals with the display of a sequence of images to generate an effect of motion. However, it is commonly used in those instances where videography is not possible, or animation can better illustrate the concept than video. For example, collision between two stars, or movement of planets around sun, cannot be video graphed, and hence can be illustrated with the help of an animation clip. Flow of blood in our arteries and veins, and pumping of blood by our heart can be best illustrated with the help of an animation clip.

Animation is also very commonly used advertisements, cartoon films, video games and virtual reality applications. Virtual reality is a relatively new computer technology, using which, the user can put on a pair of goggles and a glove and tour a three-dimensional world that exists only in the computer, but appears realistic to the user. Animation deals with displaying a sequence of images at a reasonable speed to create an impression of movement. Computer animation generally involves the hardware devices which are as follows:

1) Image generation tools and devices, such as scanners, digital camera, and video capture board interfaced to some standard video source, like video camera or video cassette recorder (i.e. VCR), are used to generate images to be used in animation.

2) Computer monitors with Image display capability is the minimum requirement for outputting (displaying) animation. In addition, multimedia computer systems capable of handling animation also require a graphics accelerator board, which not only controls the resolution and number of colors of display, but also speeds up the refresh rate. Refresh rate is the time taken to paint the computer screen with a new image frame, replacing the previous image frame. Increased speed due to the use of graphics accelerator board, smoothes out the movement because subsequent frames, which make up the animation can be displayed quicker.

Software capabilities are highly desirable in a multimedia computer system with animation facility which are as follows:

• Animation creation software -
It allows the user to create animation sequence from scratch by using a mouse and various simple objects, such as lines, circles and polygons, with various supporting colors.

• Screen capture software - It is used to capture the displays of a computer screen as graphic images, which can be used in animation.

• Animation clips - This is a library of animation clips from which one can select and directly import an animation clip and use it in a multimedia application, saving the time and effort, which might otherwise be required to create a similar animation clip. This is also useful, if one does not have animation creation software. An animation clips library often provides the facility to add a new animation clip or delete an existing animation clip from the library.

• Animation file importing - The task of creating a multimedia application incorporating animation can often be greatly simplified, if the application software can import animation files in some standard formats.

• Software support for high resolution - If the animation sequences of a multimedia application are made up of very high quality images, it is important to have not only the necessary hardware, but also software support for displaying high resolution images, which have many colors to maintain the high quality of animation display.

• Recording and playback capability - It allows the user to control the recording and display of an animation sequence.

• Transition effects - Animation can be even more interesting, if it is enhanced with transition effects, such as fade-in and fade-out, layering, zooming, and rotation of objects.
