This is my second Photoshop tutorial on Boddunan. In the first tutorial I covered some basic things one can do with Photoshop. You can read the article here – Photoshop tutorial: Getting started with the basics. Anyway, this tutorial is of a different style. While writing the first tutorial I thought of a brick by brick approach in which I’ll follow a certain course. But now I think I’ll cover some other interesting and simple techniques as well, in between this course, which can easily be followed by a beginner.

With this in mind I’ve written my second tutorial here in which I’ll show you how to highlight a particular colour in Photoshop. This is a simple technique and all you have to do is to follow the instructions carefully. 

Output

 First I want to show you what we're creating here. So let's have a look at the source file and the output file I've created before we go into the tutorial.

1. Selecting an image

Now this is an important part. It’s recommended that you select an image in which there’s a bright color. Colors like red, green, orange etc. will look great for this technique. For this tutorial I’ve selected a picture of a football player (Wayne Rooney, if you’re interested!) in his red jersey.

2. Selecting the red color with Magic Wand tool

You’ll find a tool with this icon  in your toolbar with the name ‘Magic Wand Tool’. This is a handy tool which lets you select a portion of an image based on the color. For example, if you select the magic wand tool and click on the red color of an image then the entire red colored portion gets selected, as shown in the image below. The entire red color may not be selected with just one click with the Magic Wand tool. So you should right click the non selected portions you want to highlight and click 'Add to Selection'. Alternatively, you can hold the Shift key on your keyboard, with Magic Wand tool selected and then click on the non selected portions. Once you've made the entire selection it will look like this,

Now if you want to add a little more redness to the selected red you can go to Image > Adjustments > Color Balance (Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+B) and from the box that appears move the slider towards ‘Red’.

You can also find Vibrance in the Adjustments option, which will increase the vibrance of the color.

Once done with that, with the Magic Wand Tool selected, you should right click on the image and select ‘Select inverse’.

3. Adjusting Hue/Saturation

 Once you’ve selected the ‘Select inverse’, you’ll see that portion except the color you want to highlight is been selected. Now go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation (Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+U) and from the box appeared slide the Saturation slider to the left side (to negative value). I’d recommend not sliding it to the end and getting a black and white background. Rather it’s better to have a dim colored background when you highlight a color as shown below.

Now you've got the result you're looking for. Go to Save and select the file type as JPEG if you want an image file.

There’s a lot more fun you can have with Magic Wand tool. Just select some color and go to the Image option and Filter gallery and you may create some stunning effects. You can also apply some brushes and tools like blur tool, burn tool etc. on selected regions to get cool looks (I guess I may also write on this topic in future since there’s a lot of potential for each Photoshop tool)

Ctrl – In the following article ctrl refers Control Button in your computer.

MSWord Home Tab - Clipboard Task pane

Paste Button

Paste button is used for paste the text or image what we have cut or copied. Ctrl button + V is the short cut of paste option

Cut option

In Home tab an icon like scissor is available. That icon is used for cut the text or image what we have selected.

If you want to select the whole document Ctrl+ A is used for selecting the whole document.

If you want to select the above text Shift + Up arrow is used.

If you want to select the below text Shift + Down arrow is used.

If you want to select the text in left Shift + Left is used. Likewise Shift + Right button is used for selecting the text that appears Right.

After selecting the text whatever you wish to select cut icon or Ctrl+X is used for cut the text and move the cursor wherever you need the text or image. Use ctrl +V for pasting it. Or paste icon for pasting the text.

I wish to tell you the easy way of selecting the text. First of all put the cursor in starting position and scroll to go for end position, after reaching end position use shift it is used for selecting the portion whatever you need.

Format Painter Icon

It is used to copy the format of one place and apply the specified format to the another place. Select the source text whatever format you need to apply for another location and after selecting the text use format painter icon in the target position wherever you want to apply the format.

Paint icon is appearing near the text then click the target, the formatting is updated now.

Ctrl+ Shift + C is use to select the format of the source. Click the format painter icon and click the target.

Ms Word – Home Tab - Font Task Pane

Using font task pane you can choose the font type and font size. Example font types are Times New Roman, Arial, Monotype Corsiva and etc. You can choose any size for the font.

Bold the text

B icon in this pane is used for Bold the selected text. I have explained the ways of how to select the text in cut option. Select the source text. Use Ctrl + B for Bold the text.

Italics the text

I Icon is used for Italics the text. Ctrl + I is the short cut.

Underline the text

Ctrl + U is used for underline the text. Select the text and use Ctrl + U for underline.

Strike through Icon

Strike through icon is used to strike out the text.

Subscript Icon

Subscript Icon is used for Subscript the text co₂. It is used for create the small letters below the baseline of the text. Ctrl + = is used for subscript the text and for removing the subscript also the same combinations used.

Superscript Icons

Superscript Icon is used for superscript the text. It is used to create the small letters above the base line of the text Ctrl+Shift + + is used for superscript the text. For removing the superscript also the same combination is used.

Internet the Interesting Media

The internet is the word that is on everyone’s lips. So what is internet? Why internet. We can learn today about internet. What is internet and why it is used. Internet is the huge global network of computers connected together along cables, radio waves and using satellite links.

Internet is used to send the packet of information to one computer to another, anywhere in the world within the second. The internet gives the family to all types of information. Like Railway reservation status, online booking, EB payment, Credit card payment, Netbanking and etc.

In netbanking we can open fixed deposit, recurring deposit, and close the fixed deposit all things done from our own place. No need of go for bank.

World wide web is the expansion of www. Web is the collection of documents,sounds, videos and digital photographs and information of all sorts, all connected by HTML links. We can see all types of information within a second.

People are really interested in information and no need to know about how all computers connected. All the information is web, connection of computers are net.

Key words in Internet

Web pages are written by using Hypertext Mark Up(HTML) language, a language that uses text and a defined set of commands known as tags to create most of what you see on a web page. Every year the number of people using the internet is increasing a lot. It is changing our way of our life by making our communication so much easier.

Earning online also nowadays is possible. For writing articles boddunan is giving money to us. Several PTC(Pay to Click) sites also available. Online surveys are available. You can earn money with online surveys. You can write anything you want to share with the world by using blogs. Some websites are helpful for us to sending and getting the money very smart and secure way. Many people’s like to spend more of their times to the internet. Many parents are talking with the children using internet. Because they are staying in abroad for doing their jobs. Internet is connecting both of them.

Several sites used to send the greetings for their loved one and friends for their special occasion. We can do anything and everything by using internet. Enjoy the benefits of internet. Keep browsing and surfing. You can read the newspaper in internet. All news papers having their own websites.

It takes seconds to find the timings of trains, buses and flights, eliminating the need to spend time queuing on telephone help-lines. Online booking of travel tickets also possible. We should not stand for more hours for getting the tickets.

Food and various dishes: Food is one of the most vital part of our lives. With the advent of globalization, people appreciate trying out dishes from all over the world. If you have some idea about the amazing dishes or even if you want to share your local food habits, write an article on them.
