One can reach there from Kochi through a ship or airplane. Being a nature lover, I recommend a ship. Package deal is the best for Laskhadeep. It is hassel free and it saves us from paying again and again. Generally, a package deal offered by the local tour opertor for Lakshadeep includes 2 nights stay in a resort, food, return tickets, water sports etc and costs Rs10, 000 on an average for a single person .
My journey had got started at 1in the afternoon from the harbour of Kochin. The name of my ship was “Tipu Sultan”. Tipu Sultan was an ordinary passenger ship with no luxury but was a good option for a person carrying limited funds. I was lucky to get a seat in the AC compartment of the ship. Apart from a seat in the AC compartment of the ship I was offered 3 meals on board too. Ship took almost a day to reach Kadmat. Kadmat is a coral island which is 8kms in length and half a kilometer in width. On reaching the resort I was offered a welcome drink and was assigned a room facing the beach. The evening was accompanied by a dinner and a good sleep of approximately 8 hours. My first day went by exploring the island on a mountain bike. The second day was full of action which included snorkeling, kayaking, glass bottom boat sail and scuba diving. Scuba diving was more than enough to tire me for the entire day. Third day was the day to catch the ship and to sail back to Kochin.
