Does Distance Learning Help making a good Career ?

In India we have many Govt as well as private institutions provides Distance Learning courses, not only UG level even PG level too. Do you think, it really helps in making your career ? If the DDCE courses are not recognized in our Indian MNCs, then why Govt Promotes DDCE education ?
