After hit after hit, Rajesh, gained huge popularity.  He started behaving as if he was a demigod . Success has gone to his head. He thought, all others are inferior. He  looked down all his colleagues on the Sets. Being proud is the most important factor that led this Super Star to down fall.

Yes it is right, at that time he also ignored actress with whom he gave his best performance, Sharmila Tagore is one of them. He prefer new comer heriones which were much younger them him, like Padmini Kolhapuri and Tina Munim

I do not agree with both RAMBABU and Anil for Rajesh Khanna's downfall. They are writing from imagination. The rise of Amitabh Bachchan and the social anger was responsible for romantic hero image going down.Today Smitabh is also not so popular. Does it mean success has gone to his head. Tastes change and no hero lasts long.

Amitabh Bachchan is still a popular actor but definitely he is not at all in the race of being that romantic and dhoom-dharaka actor due to his age. He has switched over quite graciously and is still a saleable artist. Rajesh Khanna showed no maturity and it's because of his arrogance.

Amitabh Bachan and Rajesh Khanna did two prominent films together , Anand and NamakHaram. Both were super stars and both dabbled in politics winning elections on Congress ticket but were both total failures as politicians..

Amitabk Bachan too has gone through his arrogance phase but has mellowed down with time and experience and realised that at times you need to stoop to conquer !

Rise of Amitabh Bachchan is also one reason, but Rajesh Khanna was not only one romantic hero of that time, what you others like Rishi Kapoor, Shahi Kapoor Jintendra and some more romantic hero.

There is no comparison between Amitabh and Rajesh Khanna. Amitabh was wise and knew what to do and what not to do.. In this connection, the Big B tried to be a politician. But, he found that he was a misfit After that, AB never tried Politics. He learned the lessons. Where as RK did not learn from his  mistakes. Rajesh Khanna  became a slave to the deadly habit of drinking. At one particular phase of his life, he started  comng to the Sets in a drunken state.

How is Amitabhs entry into politics different to that of Rajesh khanna? Let us not be pretty snd partial while speaking about issues . Rajesh Khanna may have been an alcoholic, but so were many others , some of who hav even mowed down people. Their popularity and public support still remaining intact ! One can only blame the times..

Amitabh took career seriously and worked for it. Where as Rajesh Khanna took career for granted. Alcoholism spoiled the careers of many Movie actors. K. L Saigal is one of them.

Today Rajesh Khanna has becone a legend, so there is no dearth to his popularity nor fame. He will always be remembered as the first super star of Hindi cinema and had a long lasting career where he played every kind of role possible..

I agree. What i wanted to drive home the point is One should be serious about his career without getting addicted to drugs or Drinks. yes, despite all this. Rajesh Khanna' place in Indian Movie History  remains undisturbed. He will be remembered as the First ever Super Star of India.

When an actor reaches a super star and celebrity status there is bound to be criticism of all kind both good and bad. recently Rajesh Khanna was criticised by actor Naseerudin Shah who called him a limited , poor actor. Naturally this drew a lot of flake since it was uncalled for at this stage and Naseerudin shah later apologised for his remarks.

Rajesh Khanna had style and after many roles matured into an actor like Dev Anand did.

Of course, as far as style is concerned, Rajesh Khanna had developed his own unique way.

Rajesh Khanna was a trend setter in many ways - his colorful kurtas with collars, longish hair and head shaking were all unique and a rage with the younger crowd. He was able to draw crowds just by his presence which was proved in Andaz where he has a guest role and a song Zindgi ek safar hai suhana ..

After the release Aaradhana, I and my friend, bought those closed neck shirts which he made famous as Guru shirts. Of course,Even with  a bit role, RK is capable of making his presence felt.

All these thing make him separate that others. As I know other film start at that time did not follow hair style of Rajesh but most of film starts follow hair style of Amitabh Bacchan after Dewar.
