Be realistic and don't try to become a saint is one aspect of the article, i liked immensely. This trait really paves way to positivity.
Any reference to Positivity always makes me remember one of my uncles who passed away a couple of years ago, who was immensely liked by all of us nieces and nephews but was always being criticised and looked down by the elders in the family. This was because he took everything lightly and never cared about making money. He just managed with a field , coconut garden that was part of his share and made everyone welcome and happy when they visited him ! What more does a person require ? Today we remember him with smile, affection and regret losing him at a relatively young age of 70+ and I am sure that is the best memory a person can leave nehind, being remembered fondly by all who knew him!
I guess it is the simple everyday things that are far more important than any great achievement. It also gives you inner peace and contentment when you know that you have done your best which n turn makes you develop a positive attitude towards life !
True. Simple things which we generally ignore make a big difference if cultivated. We meet people. Smile at each other. But we never bother to know their name. Addressing by name and just saying "Hi" are two different things I address my maid servant everyday by her name Swapna. It may not result in any materialistic benefit. But it gives a sense of satisfaction. This makes a whale of a difference.

If a person can bring a smile to your face long after he is no more, he truly lived a good and happy life. It is the simple things that matter and are the cause of happiness but we seem to have forgotten all that and made our lives so much complicated.
Most families nowadays want to eat out during weekends but I feel that a well cooked meal even if it is simple , prepared at home with care and served with love cannot match any of the six course meals served in a posh hotel ! But commercialisation has made us forget the simple pleasures of life.

Commercialisation and insensitivity too! We have become so much obsessed with earning more and more money and then using it to show off to others how we can afford to eat regularly in posh, expensive hotels that we don't even take our healths seriously. Yesterday, I was reading a TV news show about random raids conducted by municipal corporation officials in 10 most expensive hotels in Ahmedabad and what they found was actually so horrifying and terrible! These hotels were serving days old food stuff with clear evidence of rot and fungus in them! Imagine people paying Rs. 250-350 for each dish. If this happened in Ahmedabad, other cities are clearly not behind!

It's in the human nature. We look eagerly towards a pebble in the others hands, though we have a pearl in our hands. Remember the song, "Ghar Ki Murgi Dal Barabar"?
Taking things easy is very important to maintain a positive attitude. One should not waste so much energy worrying about what cannot be changed. Personally i found maintaining dairy very helpful in imbibing positive attitude in myself. I however feel that writing our frustrations in the dairy can also be useful. If I have any frustrating moments and i write it down in my dairy i tend to calm down immediately as i have taken out all my frustrations from within me. It also help me in introspection

Recording your frustrations in a dairy, is nothing but self talk. Self talk is an accepted practice in Personal development. It helps in reducing the weight of your frustrations. Then, it leads in finding a solution to your mental woes. And this is the first step in getting in to the path of positivity.

I totally agree with that Jabeen :) ! Self analysis is the best there is ...I too find writing down experiences very useful since it opens your mind out to all options so that you can evaluate the frustrating situation ! I have been able to find solutions to problems that seemed too complicated just by thinking over it from every angle. Such an excrcise also builds yours confidence levels !

Not worrying about things that are beyond our control is something which we need to practice over time, it is easier said than done. Also, as you have mentioned writing out our problems, difficulties etc definitely helps.

Not easy. But certainly not impossible.

The less importance you place on material things and also learn to let bygone be bygones in relationships the happier and more at peace you become. It is not easy but with some effort and time one can become calmer and less tressed when things dont go the way we want them to.
Instead of "learn yoga" I would prefer jogging and outdoor outings to become more positive.
I too prefer being outdoors and go for walking or exercising but we can combine the two - Yoga is also good for your mind so we can have the best of both ! As it is now with heavy rains it is not possible to go out for walks so Yoga and exercise at home is the only option to keep fit !
