Normally, women like to add their husbands' name once they got married. Why is it so? ;) Is it to prove that, now they have become a private property......or to show love and respect to her husband???? If so, why men are not adding their wives' names to them???? Does it show the bond of relationship??? Also, tell me, if women do so, does it add any significance to the relationship????? :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

It is very true. Moreoevr, a woman gets respect as long as she is living with her family. She is identified and respected by the surname of that family. This becomes important for many females for prestigious survival.

I have heard that women don't change their names they just add the names before their names to show their love towards their partner.

I thought so but what I felt now that women are interested to change names as if they have no identity of their own. Unless women wants to change there is no one who can do a thing for them. They shall have to take initiative.

Women should be called by her husband's name after marriage and before marriage she uses her father's name. This is our tradition. It is therefore we say that women has no caste and religion. Rest depends on us, how we would consider this matter.

yes you are right., but nowadays many women are not using their husband name and they continue with their father name after their marriage too.

That is possible for house ladies but working women find it tough to change a small change in their names. That can change the whole system and lots of legal formalities.

That is why many women change their names only informally and verbally only but for official and legal purposes retain their original names.

That is true, I have seen ladies even change their main name for use in husband's home in case they like a particular name or a similar named lady in that house but officially they retain their original name.
