Almost everywhere this year we have been facing a very Severe Summer .. Drinking water is scarce and whatever ground water is present in wells and lakes, get dried up due to the severe heat. In Karnataka many cities have touched the highest temperatures ever recorded - Bangalore known as the air conditioned city in the past , saw temperature soaring up to 39.4 degrees, so also Mysore which used to remain pleasant all through the year.. In my own town Mangalore we have seen temperatures rise up to 38 degrees and combined with nearly 80% humidity the heat becomes unbearable. Orissa had the highest temperature recorded at 43.8 degrees. There have been several deaths due to the heat wave and with ground water depleting at a fast rate we may face very difficult days until monsoon begins. In my own town, we have water storage for 8 days only , so they are going to reduce the water supply to half ( now we get water once in two days for 6 hours) and plan on stretching it to 16 days or more if they can further reduce the supply . Wells are fast drying up. In my own house, for the first time our well has completely dried up. It is a drought situation in many villages and towns,

I am sure all of us are facing similar problems due to heat and scarcity of water. Please add  your own experiences and suggestions to beat the heat, save water etc..

According to latest Weather reports, more than average rainfall is on the cards. In the meanwhile, in Odisha and Telengana, about 300 deaths due to severe Summer were reported. The pre-monsoon season is naturally a hot period in India. Anyhow, the news on arrival of monsoon before 20 th of this month is quite cheerful.

Latest weather forecast says, Monsoon will be delayed by another week. The country is awaiting for the arrival of the Monsoon.

As expected the weather department has again gone back on their prediction...So the monsoon will commence as usual in the first week of June. I wonder how an why they always bungle up things while reporting weather  with all the sophisticated gadgets they have at their disposal...

Because of the late arrival of Monsoon, In AP rivers Godavari and Krishna are drying up. The condition is very horrible in Telangana. . While on the other side, there are excess rains in both AP and Telangana,  which damaged the crops. I don't know what would be the condition after the arrival of Monsoon in full swing.

Predicting monsoon accurately is not possible because of the very large number of variables involved whose behaviour and cross linkages keep constantly changing. The sophisticated instruments are catching the actual behaviour but prediction is assuming particular behaviour which may not take place due to ever changing environment parameters. What can be reasonably accurately predicted is the trend and overall quantum of monsoon rainfall.

Weather predictions always vary. None can predict pin pointedly about the seasons change. This is not the first time arrival of Monsoon was predicted wrongly.

thank god for the monsoon, i think instead of blaming god for hot summer we should thank god that this time Monsoon will come fast

Heat wave conditions continue in the country. While Phalodi in Rajasthan records 51 degrees Celsius, in Telangana  66 people died and in AP, 45 succumbed due to scorching summer.

Monsoon is always on time , may be at the most 3 or 4 days this side or that side, we get rains by the 5th of June almost every year. Now since more than 2 weeks we have been having pre monsoon showers and drizzles almost every evening , brings down the temperature and takes care of the plants although not much help for the water situation..

Its different here. Until 2 days, there were rains ranging from drizzles to heavy down pour. But since yesterday both in AP and Telangana a severe heat is going on with mercury levels touching 49 degrees Celsius.

Delhi received its first shower today and it has brought down the temperature too.

I watched in TV about this. Good for Delhi people for getting relief from the scorching Heat. But the picture is different in many states like Rajasthan, Odisha, Assam, AP and Telangana. On the whole, Summer continues and the Heat wave conditions will remain for few more days.

As this year summer is hot in our country, so it will bring good monsoon for our country. This year many places have reached temperature near to 50 degree, but from yesterday many places in Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi received rain showers changing the weather. Today also clouds are seen in the sky in my area. (i.e. in east Rajasthan)

I guess it is warning bells of a sort and unless steps are taken by all individuals towards conservation of water we will keep having these problems  every year. Rain water harvesting is not all that difficult to take up by each individual house and building. The initial expenses may be there but in the long run it will benefit the entire neighborhood and city.

Conservation of water is the need of the hour. Every drop counts. We have the tendency to waste water when water is abundantly available.. Owing to extended summer rivers and tanks drying up. Now the Governments woke up. Express water conserving processes are drawn up. Rainwater Harvesting are taken up. Here in AP. Godavari and Krishna dried up. Owing to water scarcity, even power supply is affected. Today, it's the third time power supply stopped. The condition is really horrible..

Of course it was predicted that southern states Karnataka, Andra Pradesh, Telegana and Tamil Nadu were facing near drought situation but @ rambabu went on and on about how AP never had any water problems and IPL could be shifted there etc.. It is only after considering the future situation that the experts had made this prediction..

I agree. You know with the extended Summer and delayed Rains, day by day, the situation is changing and I mentioned in my response owing to drying up of Godavari and Krishna rivers, severe water crisis took place. And it lead to frequent power supply. What I said was the prevailing conditions existing in the state as on date.

Here is my city temparatur touch to 50 degree. In last winter we have not rain. so most of area are dried, it is also reason for hot summer. Yesterday Delhi have rain and some town of my district also have some rain. Today weather is some cold. Thanks God.

Here in my place, Vizag the sky is overcast. Though the heat is considerably reduced, being a Coastal region, humidity is more. Recent forecast according to IMD is,there are 92 % chances of India receiving normal and above rainfall.
