The main reason of sorrow is a feeling that one does not get what he/she deserves. Develop a mind set up to appreciate what we have, then all the sorrows will be changed into happiness.

Being contented is a good state to be in but it is also a non achiever's  mind. Indian culture lays too much emphasis on contentment and thus the drive to create/achieve is lost. Some amount of dissatisfaction acts as a motivator to achieve.

Count your blessings not your curses. No man is born with all blessings or al curses. Every individual has both blessings and curses. It is advisable to capitalize  the blessings and discard the curses. Else, it erodes the very individual physically and mentally.

It is not as simple as that to wish away our sorrows especially when people feel cornered on all sides. No doubt it is a good attitude to not dwell on our sorrows and try to get out of it. But while you go through the experience, it is not easy to do so..

The best way to appreciate your life is to turn attention to the numerous blessings in it. From the very moment of the birth till this very day, there had been number of blessings one after another. But the problem is that we forget about our blessings when we face slight pain or small problem.

Staying steady in testing times , no doubt is difficult. Maintaining patience is also difficult. But to get disturbed by problems we are sabotaging ourselves.  This quality of being stable in adverse conditions comes with age.

Some people are blessed with number of good things in their life even if they do not deserve it. But the life of some people are very miserable and always with obstructions even if they are very capable and intelligent. They cannot lead a happy life. Once we think about those people whose situation is worst than ours, we can avoid our negativity.

Wisdom lies in maintaining equanimity in every kinds of UPS and DOWNS.  Running away from the adversities is not desirable. Facing the adversities is what is needed.

Just as we condemn persons for their one wrong doing inspite of a lifetime of good deeds we do the same to ourselves also by moaning what we do not have.

It's the general human tendency. We look down our own virtues and indulge in self pity.

Nobody is absolutely perfect in this world. One way or other, every human being is weak, fragile and imperfect. The ability to understand one's own limitations and accept them plays a very crucial part in making a person happy. Change what you can and accept what you cannot.  Never try to compare you with others. Instead, let's start living our lives.

To be contented is a good quality but in many cases it has a limitation too. People who face hardships for others but never speak up and express themselves as contented are usually taken for granted. They are misused and never allowed to have their say or fulfil their own wishes. Is this contented life worth appreciating? I don't think so. I agree that one must remain contented regarding all the materialistic happiness one has got but not in the case of mental and emotional experiences.

Non achievement should not be a matter of sorrow. This should be a cause for more action.

To be discontented is not always a sign of sorrow. When one is discontented then only his/her inner voice pricks. It makes one to act for the betterment.

It is only through self doubt and discontentment that one becomes better and is able to achieve more. This does not mean that you have no self confidence, it only means that you are not arrogant and full of yourself ...We should no doubt appreciate what we have , but with the aim of making things better if and when possible !

When we say, one needs to be contented, then, why do we object to the abuses going on in our society? There is a huge difference between discontented and greed. If any skilled person gets contented with their performances then it's the end of his/her progress. So, discontentment makes one work harder but when one tries evil practices to remove his/her discontentment then it turns into greed which is obviously wrong.

It's not lack of self confidence, but the inability to recognize the individual's innate virtue. This is the difference that separates Achievers from Non Achievers.

it is very easy to write what you write here but it is difficult to behave in this manner. it is human nature to always cry for curses.

The big question is what exactly is achievement ? its perception and concept  differs from person to person . For some staying at home dong nothing may be an achievement ..each one to his own as long as they are happy in their own sphere!

Happiness, derived from an achievement is a state of mind. If one thinks that he's happy,he's happy. If one thinks that he's unhappy, he's unhappy.

For a toddler, its first step. For a beggar, it's a square meal.

There are genuine cases of sorrow which one cannot overlook. Losing a child or poverty can be very distressful and unless there is a total change one cannot expect people to remain content and appreciate what they have. It is only within limits that people can remain happy and appreciate of their life ..
