Go through the link, the link says: " The 90-degrees defecation posture, formed by the bending of the hips and knees at right-angles when sat upright on a pedestal toilet, can cause narrowing of the point at which the anus and rectum are joined which may complicate the passing of stools. "
We cannot find out traditional style of toilet in newly constructed houses. We all forgot about our traditional style. It can see only in those houses which are constructed many years ago. The main reason why people left the traditional way is because of knee pain and back pain. Many people even in new generation cannot bend their knee properly for sitting on the toilet in traditional style because of severe pain. People with backache also can't use old style toileting due to pain. But I always prefer the traditional style.
The flushing and cleaning facilities of western style toilet is possible in traditional style also. Now-a-days, Indian style toilets are constructed with flushing facilities. Today's people understand the importance of old style method and started to make at least one in old style. But old people always prefer western style because they can sit there without any difficulty.
I still maintain that sit in any way the result is same because the way which is convenient will be adopted. Body has great ability to adapt. There is nothing western or Indian about doping a natural function. If you try to delay it, then it can happen in any pose !!! What a topic yaar.
I don't think so. It's not true that traditional toilets are entirely replaced with Western type toilets in Cities and Metros. Traditional toilets are also there in cities and Metros.Additionally, digestion problems are there even in traditional toilet users.
It all sums up to one thing. That is, Toilet users be it traditional or Western type see the convenience. I have seen many western type toilet users free from digestion problems or to that matter any kind of health problems.

According to the link "It is common practice in the West to sit on a toilet in a similar fashion to how one sits on a chair, with back straightened and feet on the floor, and it may be this typical defecation posture that is causing such widespread digestive problems amongst the populace. The 90-degrees defecation posture, formed by the bending of the hips and knees at right-angles when sat upright on a pedestal toilet, can cause narrowing of the point at which the anus and rectum are joined which may complicate the passing of stools. The strain placed on the colon by defecating at a narrow anorectal angle can cause both long-term and short-term bowel problems."
I agree with you. Western Type of toilets do not pose any health problems. While this discussion was in progress, a visitor came to me. He has an apartment in which both types of Toilets are there. According to their convenience , his wife and himself use both type of toilets. Never they had any health problems.
I agree that people use toilets according to their comfort, but many claim that Indian traditional toilets are the best.

Very convincing explanation favoring Traditional Indian toilet. In Yogasanas, a popular pose called Shashanasana is capable of massaging abdominal organs and stimulating the nervous action of the bowels. This leads to an effortless motion.
But what I wanted to say is, even in Western type of Toilets, there are no such problems regarding Free motion.
