It is good to know that the hollywood crowd is much more aware than our lot who only think about themselves and their own importance. Earlier in the fifties and sixties , apparently Raj Kapoor and other stars and singers would have a day for our jawans, when the stars would spend time with them, entertaining them and generally showing their solidarity...but now the day would be spent in front of the cameras making more money through ads...

Now i remember, the first to have started such philanthropic deeds was the great MGR. He used to distribute rain coats to the rickshaw pullers in Chennai, well before he entered politics.

Only few celebrities are large hearted. But I appreciate most of the actors because they celebrate their birthdays in orphanages, elderly persons homes, cancer/HIV persons homes.

Many of them or at least their families want to see that they are remembered even after their death and for this the government should take responsibility to see that money is spent to build a park a temple or some kind of a memorial in their name - I have seen this happen with most of the top south indian stars.

If celebrities serve the society by charity, it will definitely motivate the public.

The best among the celebrities in India is Rajanikanth. He is good social worker as well. He is one of my favourite stars.
