This reveals that coalition politics is not yet on firm grounds. There are no rules yet for norms of ministry making and functioning.

Constitutionally, It is Prime Minister's prerogative to constitute his cabinet. This is okay in single party government. In a coalition, ministers are appointed by means of quota from constituent political parties. The Railway Minister is from Trinmool Congress and hence he must resign when his party withdraws him. It is highly improper for the Railway minister to stick to his job in spite of clear intention of his party to withdraw him and appoint another person. It is funny that he boasts of placing national interests above party. He owes his appointment to his party and he has no business to continue in the even of his withdrawal by his party.

Gulshanji, you are correct! Once he got elected on TMC's party ticket he is bound to follow the instructions of his leader.

But Mamata does not like any type of increasing in fair of railway.again Pranab imposed tax extra 3%.So Trivedi should withdraw the hike.

I think the entire issue stinks! For Ms. Banerjee I wonder if it could not have been managed better! Mr. Trividey's case was one of overreaching oneself!!!

Many people were disappointed from the day she became supremo of Trinamool Congress. She has adament and bossing attitude.
This is good to some extent if a lady wants to remain powerfull and strong in political party.

Mamata Banerjee is giving vent to her undemocratic and arbitrary mindset repeatedly. Latest is arrest and harassment for mere cartoon. No leader including Pt. Nehru and Indira Gandhi escaped cartoons. But Mamata is not so liberal as they were.
