:) Many voters in Chhatisgarh have expressed their willingness to vote only if indelible ink is not used. Indelible ink identifies the voters. They don't want to reveal the fact of their vote for fear of Maoists.

Authorities looks the other way because, they are not supporters and authorities tend to support those who support party in power.Rulers must see the safety of individuals as they should see that voting should not be a burden to the social life of individuals.
When the question of providing safety to voters comes, authorities look the other way.. This is what happening in the present scenario.

But you said in the above thread that authorities should see the safety of the individuals.
Presently a new button will be available "None of the above", in the voting machine. It is better not to vote any one.
Even if you exercise 'None of the above', Naxalites (Maoist) will not spare. If you vote any way, the polling officer will ink your finger and the Maoists will beat or kill you. Moreover, 'none of above' is as good as not voting. Then why not stay at home and be secure.
The none of the above is a pink button but it will still inked your finger and the naxalites will see it and can react it. In democracies these are the challenged and all these are in house challenges.Presently a new button will be available "None of the above", in the voting machine. Challenges will be there. Will there be a life sans challenges? In these days of advanced technology i don't think this challenge cannot be addressed sooner than later.

Naxalites are angry because they don't want any government rule in their region. If a new button is introduced, I feel they won't attack people unknowingly. Many people don't want to vote any party. They can use their voting power to express their distress. Likewise, I feel that Naxalites will not kill people. They may at first ask and then beat or kill.
I would also say that someone from Naxalites should form a party. They should legally discuss with the people and the government, their demands and wants.

The Naxalite have a party- Communist Party of India (Maoist). The would be discussing with people in the affected areas. As regards 'legally discussing' with government, they do not consider the govt. itself legal nor do they believe in constitution and law. They have declared war against govt. This is a very critical situation. People in the affected area cannot go to polling booth without risk of annoying Maoists.
They should have but they want to be sycophants in the front of their political bosses and they simply ignore what they ought to do or not to do.Authorities looks the other way because, they are not supporters and authorities tend to support those who support party in power.Rulers must see the safety of individuals as they should see that voting should not be a burden to the social life of individuals.

So, it all amounts to one thing. If indelible ink proves to be a curse on a certain section of the community and the govt. fails to protect the vulnerable, the individual himself would have to find out a way for his safety. What type of way the individual chooses is up to the individual.

Even voting for 'none of above' amounts to participation in election process which the Maoist want to boycott. So the voters in the Maoist affected area vote in any manner or for any candidate at their absolute risk. Govt. can provide security only during election whereas the Maoist can do what they like any time even later. Hence the demand for not using indelible ink is very genuine in Maoist affected regions.
Citizens should be brave to vote, as mass voting will weaken naxalites as they cannot kill mass people, as they will not support them. The none of the above is a pink button but it will still inked your finger and the naxalites will see it and can react it. This fear of voting is prevalent in Naxalite dominant regions, which are remote villages in far flung agency areas. Remember Naxalite operate in thse areas because they have the support of local tribals. They have strong network of informers. In this scenario how brave one should be to vote ?

If the Naxalites get support of local tribal, they are virtual rulers. Then nobody can participate in elections. People may participate in election only if the state government/ central govt. successfully made Naxalites/ Maoist ineffective.

One of the main tasks of Naxalites in these areas is to brain wash the local tribals in such a way that they believe blindly and treat them as their saviours. They are instructed not to cooperate with the combing operations. And any violator will be beheaded publicly in their "PeoplesCourts ". In such situations who can exhibit their bravery? And the biggest drawback is that police stations are nowhere visible in the nearest vicinity .
We have had a small incident with the naxalites yesterday in our district where a group of naxalites came knocking on the doors of a social worker and an official named Bhat, at night time .When he refused to open the door telling them that they could speak during day time, they poured petrol over his car and a motor byke which was kept outside in the compound and left.the car was fully burnt...Bha is a good worker and honest trying to rehabilitate the tribals which was not liked by the naxalites ..

Naxalites will never be happy if someone tries to rehabilitate the tribals. Because Naxalites don't want to lose the the grip on the tribals . The tribals are their strength and support.

Thats true, we have been having some problems with them of late. The commando forces are no doubt doing a great job , but the problem is with some of the misguided locals who support them.
The Maoists have blasted bombs at some places places in Chhatisgarh just on eve of elections. It needs a lot of courage to exercise vote in these circumstances even if indelible ink is not used. If govt. is really serious with elections, the in king of finger as a token of vote needs be dispensed with in the Maoist controlled regions.

It's due to the tribal support, the combing operations are miserably failing. Tribals inform and alert the Naxalites whenever there is a search party or combing operations arrive before hand because they are familiar with the jungle terrain. If a Naxalite is hidden by the tribals, god also cannot locate their hide out.
