Age is no bar in Delhi pubs. even teenagers are served liqueur in these bars. The minimum age is twenty five years. It appears that the age of twenty five years is impracticable. An individual may be employed when he is eighteen. If he is employed in army, he will begin taking liqueur from army source. Then why the civilians self employed or working in shops, factories be denied the pleasure.

In all fairness, the age for drinking should be reduced to eighteen and strictly adhered to.

The criteria may be anything. But the conditions laid out in the law should be adhered to.
I think it is the same all over India or at least in metro cities. I have seen teenagers barely 14 or 15 sitting and drinking in pubs ....I too feel that once they fix a minimum age for entry, everyone should stick to it, or else what is the point in having rules and regulations?

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

The case is same throughout India, Recently a well known pub in Delhi was raided by the police and it was found that most of the people present at the pub were students below 18 years of age and what was worse is that they were being served alcohol freely. The parents blamed the pub owner and in turn the pub admin blamed the parents for letting go off their children.

Live in the present :)

This type of rules increase scope of corruption. When no ban on buying liqueur then why ban on drinking in pubs. No one can drink liqueur in public places. But it very common that people drink in road side small shops or rehdi (temporary shops)

Very good observation. There needs be no ban. Leave this to parents. It is their responsibility to limit pocket money so as to prevent drinks and other expensive harmful consumption.

I agree, one should be allowed to drink in pub (age reduced), it is far better than minors drinking on roadside, cars, school premises and make all sort of Tamashas. Pubs are the places where they can take their frustrations out and talk man to man.

A system having laws without functionality is as good as a system without laws. A lawless society is nothing short of a Jungle. Are we gradually drifting towards square No.1, primitive ages?

Is that so, do you mean permissive societies are already there in the jungle? Or they are doing far better than us. More you try to put them within undesired laws, they only want to break them with more intensity. People with lesser laws to follow, know how to keep self control. People with no false restrictions do not have to break any law. Do you think people in Gujrat do not drink, where wine is not available officially? We shall be better off, if we act our age.

Flouting the law doesn't mean permissible society.

I agree with that ! In fact after Holland made drugs legal the drug usage cxame down....It is also true of Gujrat where liquor is freely available if one is willing to pay a little more...However, whn a rule or law is made it should be such that all angles are taken into consideration so that loopholes are reduced and it is people friendly !
