The Topic-  Hardik says he will spread the reservation movement in Twenty Seven states of the country. I wonder if our government has any concrete plan to counter his plans or will it be limited to teargassing, Lathi charge and firing on demonstrators? It's time to handle all anarchy and undue demands with strict hands and show anarchists their right place.

My question is-  Do you want more anarchists in this country at the cost of innocent people suffering for the ambition of few select ones. What do you think our government should do in this matter?

PS- I am not in the contest so number of posts is not applicable for me.

Clean politics is my answer. politics sans Self seeking and self centered  people who care and live for the welfare of the people who rested faith on them and handed over the power. Our elected representatives should not forget that people are the Masters who employed them as custodians to keep their interests. Not to be treated like slaves. And finally the elected members should remember that people's mandate is the ultimate.

There is urgent need to stop the mad race for reservation. Today Patels, tomorrow Jats- there will be no end. But I don't think Hardik can suceed in spreading his anarchy to entire country. Anna Hazare, Kiran Bedi, Kejriwal and others anarchists played havoc in Delhi over Lok Pal issue, which is yet not resolved.  They failed to spread anarchy in whole country.  Ultimately, some became inactive and others joined existing political partries or formed new party bidding good bye to the Lok Pal issue.  Hardik is also not capable of extending his misadventure in Gujarat elsewhere.

Government needs be strict. apart from law and order issue, this is a big social issue. The worst thing about reservation is that no caste is ever taken out of the reservation system.  It is necessary to review the reservation policy periodically and ensure that the castes having sufficiently uplifted are taken out the scheme.  Ultimately, the reservation must end.

Exactly My thoughts, I wish they understand this as early as possible or nothing will save this country from going to dogs.

Yes,we need much more anarchists. Current reservation policy take our country around 60 years back. Reservation is such disease that make our country hollow. Our current government is totally responsible for such discrimination. We need to give reservation to a talented student that has money problem. Many times a ordinary student come under reservation because they belong from OBC or other reserved caste. For this reason we meed many people who come forward and fight for the right of such students who are not come under reserved stufent but they are brighter and talented as compared to any student belonging to reserved class.

India needs anarchism at this stage or else the potential of the Indians will remain under utilized. Why and what for the meritorious students would forsake their right to success? What's their fault? Is it only because that they come from general category? Oh! What a pity that our lawmakers do not possess a progressive outlook. They only believe in vote bank policy and on the other hand they do not hesitate to push their own country towards downfall.

I wonder, are the lawmakers true towards their policy of propagating the idea to save the girl child? I think when they believe in reservation on the basis of caste then the issue of saving the girl child would also lead to the reservation policy. The girl child who comes from the reserved category must be saved because they have a brighter future in India than the girl child who belongs to the non-reserved category.

So, if we feel the need to stop the reservation policy then we need to gear up like those revolutionaries who gave us an Independent India. Anarchism for a just demand is not only a need of the hour but revolution by the members of the reserved category must be made to bite the dust.

Black mailing  the Government at Gun point to achieve people's irrational and meaningless needs is one thing that should be nipped in the Bud. The Government should use a crooked finger when it fails to get the tings by a straight finger. Why on earth the Government should use soft ways to deal with these unscrupulous violators of Democratic norms ? Thorn should be removed with a thorn. The Government should rule with an iron fist. Alter all the Government's aim and objective is to establish peace and stability.

Reservation as an instrument of social transformation had a context in the backdrop of thousands of years of denial and deprivation of some of our socially disadvantaged sections.Ergo,in the normal run of things this concept of "positive discrimination" was ,indeed, had a great relevance for the founding fathers of our Constitution and at the same time they were perfectly aware of danger it posed if stretched to absurd lenghts. That was the main reason they put a cap of 10 years. As we can all see that like some other progressive and far-sighted provisions, the politicians of later generations, pigmies as they have been, seized upon it as vultures take to carcasses! If it has succeeded in further accentuating social divisions, throwing up dubious characters masquerading as leaders promoting 'mobocracy',a term which my friend Sunil so much likes!

I think reservation should be demolished and opportunities should be based on merits only. All should get equal rights of education irrespective of cast or religion. Such anarchist should be handled with strict actions against. Hardik's movement looks to be political supported and by spreading all over India his only motive looks go against the ruling party only. Neither he is interested in getting reservation nor against the reservation.

One needs to understand why the Patels of Gujarat have launched the agitation demanding reservations. Gujarat is a manufacturing driven economy where service sector has been neglected. Huge tracts of Patel owned agricultural lands have been transferred to industrialists. This has resulted in large number of Patel youth come into the job market. With no skills they are not able to get  jobs and the few they feel they can get are denied due to reservations. Patels were instrumental in bringing BJP to power all these years in Gujarat. Now they want their pound of flesh as they feel that they are not getting any benefit for this continued support. And reservation is an issue they have chosen. Significantly around forty percent Patels are well to do and as a community they can sustain long battles if necessary. Are they anarchists in demanding reservation? I would say no because in a democracy there is give and take of support and reward. Should they be given reservation will depend on their ability to agitate. too early to predict. For me however there should be reservation of upto 10 or 15% max only for SC& T and physically handicapped and ex army jawans. This anarchist agitation may lead to a wider dialog about relevancy of reservations.

Personally, I am against reservation based on caste system, but when we look deeply into the reason why Patel's have suddenly flared up against government, demanding a reservation for them, the reasons are many. First and foremost, it is the way all governments, be it congress or BJP or whichever else, has been treating people. First it was the Gujjars and Jats of Rajasthan and Haryana, now it is Patels from Gujarat and very soon, time is not far away when Marathas and Leva Patils from Maharashtra would soon join into the foray. Until now, a lot of favoritism has been going on, in spite of reservation, deserving candidates even from the reserved categories do not get jobs, it is only those hwo power of money, can get a proper job. I was talking to a friend yesterday who happens to belong to the same Kadwa Patel community from Kutch, Gujarat and when I asked her, she said that for years now the Patels have been financing all the major campaigns and operations and helped bring many governments to power while they get nothing in return. She said even a minorest offence such as breaking a traffic signal costs them nothing less than 500 rupees which to others are no more than 100-200. The name Patel means money bank for others. So if we think about it, it is not anarchy we are seeing but unfairness in dealing with valuable community members. Government needs to handle this affair rather delicately and with tact.

Strikes and Dharnas make economy a mess. I need not stress the importance of Economy in making a country march towards development and Growth. So, I wish to see a Government sans Strikes and Dharnas and the political Leaders who encourage Strikes and Dharnas which are divisive and breaks the Backbone of economy should be banned. To express any kind of discontentment, Parliament alone should be made the stage to resolve the crisis. Every person worth his salt should not take the law in his hands and give a clarion call, " Ab Chalo Bandh Kiya Jaay".

People like Hardik are teaching a lesson to us and our government that the reservation based cast should be cancelled immediately else people from other communities will start their movements like Hardik and will create difficulty for public and government. The Hardik movement in Gujrat has destroyed public property on a large scale and also public working in private sector are effected by this agitation.

Anarchism can never be accepted . Government has to put an end to this with discussions first and forcefully if needed. Demand for 'reservations' cause friction between castes and classes leading to discrimination which a progressive Nation can never encourage. This would further lead to ' Anti -quota' stirs as seen earlier. There is no end to such demands and if the Govt doesn't take strict action, things are bound to go haywire.

The word reservation itself gives the feel of being demeaned. It is true that those who avail an opportunity under reservation policy feel great to join an esteemed college or get a job.  This is a great benefit for the applicants who come under the reserved category but on the other hand they forget that they welcome huge criticism from various quarters. The applicants who are truly worthy but remain deprived of an opportunity only because the Indian law makes a privileged way for the students with less talent. They would avail the best resource without their capability which is unacceptable. What a sarcasm!

This tragedy is basically never ending because the deprived lot has got no say in this country. Though unreasonable, the meritorious students of the general category have to bite the dust. It happens only because the administration is not bothered to raise the quality of its educated citizens and later lacks the quality job holders. See for example an eighty percent holder gets rejected in getting admission to a reputed college while a student of reserved category gets enrolled in the same college with just forty-five percent in his/her kitty. Does this low grader has the potential to become a quality achiever and a professional?

Providing education should be must till school level and thereafter the ability of an applicant should be the decisive factor. The selection should be entirely based upon the potential of the candidate and reservation policy must not pose any threat to the meritorious lot. This is how India can progress fast and rise high. Reservation is not a sign of progress and it has to be understood that it promotes discrimination among its citizens which in return creates rift among them, quality progress gets obstructed and on the whole India as a nation starts marching towards dark ages.

Thus, the people who come out on the street and create chaos in favour of reservation system are only bothered about their personal benefit on the basis of caste and not thinking about India at large.

Opportunist Politicians are always on the look out for greener avenues. Their concerns and interests always revolve around on only one aspect,  " What's in it for me ?"This category of politicians are a menace to Democracy. People select and elect their representatives who sticks to ideologies that promote their interests. In this process people will be disgusted to know their candidate who was elected by them is hopping from one  party to the other searching to serve his own interests, ignoring those innocent unsuspecting people who gave them the power. This kind of opportunist politicians who jump from one party to the other should be banned for life making ineligible for entering the politics.

This kind of unethical politics should be dealt with an Iron hand by the Government.

While I am against reservation, it is still necessary for certain classes of people who are way way below the poverty line such as the people who wander through the country in search of employment on seasonal basis such as labourers brought in from various parts for harvesting sugarcane during winter season, children of communities labeled criminals by the British and are still described so in spite of having got independence 65 years ago, people performing acrobatics on streets etc. Reservation for such children is necessary to ensure they get education and also financial assistance to a certain limit. What we now see is people who are financially very sound, use flashy, expensive cars daily still get all reservation benefits because of their caste.

What we need is a system that will meticulously conduct research and surveys of such people, and please do not engage teachers for that job, there are numerous educated, unemployed, able youth who can do it and prepare a realistic statistical report of people who really needs reservation. This should be for basic education upto 10th or 12th std and vocational trades such as carpenters, blacksmiths, leather works etc. Beyond that, higher education should be purely on merit and financial assistance to be given only to the deserving and needy. NO reservation in jobs, that will ensure quality of workforce.

It will certainly not be liked by many but needs to be enforced because people have gotten into the habit of not taking efforts and working hard, which will take some to get used to. But down the line, cultivating the habit of working hard without any benefits of being in particualr class or caste, is what will take our country towards real progress.

Everyone like Hardik first says that he will not going to join politics, but at last everyone either join some political party or form his own political party. Such anarchist first play with the feelings of people, promise them that they will fight against system, corruption and will put all politicians in jail if they win with majority and form their own government. But when these type of people come in government, they start doing their work like other corrupt politicians doing.

Our government shout take strong actions against these anarchists who are destroying public property by Dharnas, and movements.

Your post reminds about the Indian Bihari community sent to different West Indian islands for harvesting sugarcane by British centuries ago. Those Indians are doing great in every field of life without any reservation.

The Reservation system when started way back in the 50s post independence was with the intention of bringing the neglected section to the forefront as they needed the push, but now we are into the 69th year of independence and still seem to be in need to support that section with "reservations' and quotas. Instead of having reservations and causing divisiveness would it not be more logical to give compulsory education to all irrespective of their caste and class with monitory support where required based on family income with strict laws against keeping children at home at least till they cross the primary level and thereafter based on their merit they should be screened and filtered. Those with potential but below poverty line can be provided scholarships till they complete their Education. Govt does need to look deeply into it.

@Sunil, those people are indeed doing great in West Indies and other far flung countries of the world where they were taken as common labourers because eventually they were absorbed in the local communities, educated and emancipated and became an integral part of those respective communities. Sugarcane labourers in India, on the contrary, still live in temporary shacks made from woven mats, move around from plantation to plantation during each season, are exploited financially by the contractors, the contractors sexually molest and harass their women etc. the list is endless. On even a slightest hint of revolt or demand fro justice, the whole settlement of labourers is burned overnight as a lesson. So if anyone needs reservation, it is these people and similar other types of communities that suffer the same fate.
