My question is what's the need of Reservations. Merit should be the only criteria for getting a suitable assistance from the Government without involvement of caste.

Praising should be done so as to make the person feel acknowledge for his efforts & not to make him feel that he has performed exceedingly well. At each stage there is a different challenge & if a person overcomes it he should be praised economically & a pat on the back is sufficient. A good vision & direction are critical to any Individual, if that is present then no amount of praise can make him lose his track.
Good Vision & Direction - Examples Swami Vivekananda. Great Souls are undeterred by external praises & go on to work on the means like Sachin Tendulkar with his practice, passion, Dignity & Humility.

When I first saw the topic, the first thoughts that seeded into my Mind are as follows.
1. Caste System might have been Introduced so as to elevate poor communities which existed at that time.
2. Over the years the situation in respect of Economic & Caste has changed, now it is not at all that, a particular caste is not good enough financially, situations have changed.
3. Reservation is now used Politically as it is mentioned in many of the comments.
4. Change is the need of the Hour & that constitutes masses unifying with a consensus to eliminate it & give it on the ground of economic condition.

In Gujrat a 22 year old young boy Hardik Patel is struggling for reservation for his community. IN Patel commuity most of the people are rich and settled in various parts of the world. Also there are poor people in unreserved community also who are not able to come up because of limited sources. So should reservation be given on the basis of caste or Economical condition of people?

A census conducted in 2011 , not made public by the UPA government for obvious reasons the Hindu population has dipped below 80% and the Musil population has seen a growth...This is not any " Saffron" brigade findings but census conducted by the previous government..

In the name of protests and agitations, anti social elements enter and unleash their destructive activities causing loss to public and Government property.
Anyhow the central government is firmly determined to bring the situation under control. Para military forces are deployed to control the situation.

It is not necessary to abolish caste system. It is necessary to avoid interference with the political system. Once the caste system is allowed in to political system, the country will be torn in to pieces.

As of now one can never abolish caste system because it is so deep rooted that it would lead to civil war ..In fact people like mulayam singh yadav and lalu are wanting even more reservations - for muslims who converted from backward classes and OBC and for women and so on...For it to stop we should root out all the rotten elements and start afresh which would take several decades

The luxury you mentioned needs investment. The thread says luxuries without involving money. For example Having good health is a luxury. Your investment here is just determination to have that luxury.

It is obvious any agitation leads to destruction of the Government property. Anyhow latest news says that extra par military forces are deployed to curb the Patel Agitation.

Caste system is the favorite tool for the politicians to keep them in power. Every politician looks forward to use this tool and divide the country on caste basis. People should avoid and rebel against this to save the country from this deadly plague.
