The very purpose of Praise is to acknowledge one's good deed that stands to a set of expectations. It should help in paving path to progress. Not a hindrance and blocks development. This applies to all be it a child or adult.

Each one of us have beliefs and around which our opinions form. A belief is an opinion. It hardly matters what and how it is called.

True. Partition was a madness. The effect of this madness let everlasting impressions on the hearts of the people.of both the countries. I read the Book Train to Pakistan written by Khushwant Singh and seen the movie based on this relatively small book, it deals vividly not only political events, but a deep local focus lending a human dimension.
An unforgettable pain that lives forever.

benefit,it did so for a set of selfish,
power-hungry gerantocracy whose lust
for power completely blinded them.
The Bengali literature records moving
accounts of this monumental tragedy.
In fact the celebrated filmmaker Ritwick
Ghatak's works dealt with this cataclysmic
event with great authenticity and
sensitivity. He was the one who could
never reconcile himself accepting
this great fraud perpetrated on this
nation and had an untimely end turning
himself into an alcoholic!

DD sounds impartial but the truth is DD has always been the mouth piece of government and people who do not support the party in power will accept DD is an independent channel.

A true Rationalist is one who questions and tries to find a valid explanation for everything ! But most Rationalists in my opinion are fake ...Just taking the example of UR Anatamurthy whose pet hobby was to put down Hinduism and Believers ...The same man hit the roof protesting when a a statue of Mary was vandalised by Sree Ram sena activists in Mangalore, simply because his wife Esther is a devout Catholic from mangalore ! Talk about double standards and he is considered a demi god My the state rationalist society or whatever name they call themselves ..One can see how rational these rationalists are !

If the nuns say anything in a bid to collect donations, it too amounts to misinformation. This is undesirable.

It is not actually cheating in the real sense because they never had any intention of providing for anyone other than Christians and probably the higher authorities knew this, but the nuns who are sent to get donations go from door to door and say anything just to make people pay not realising that some day they may be questioned ..There are many old age homes here run very well !

Praise should make the child to fortify his self confidence and to build his inner strengths. Praise should not be taken as a bribe offered by the parents.

Praising should be done so as to make the person feel acknowledge for his efforts & not to make him feel that he has performed exceedingly well. At each stage there is a different challenge & if a person overcomes it he should be praised economically & a pat on the back is sufficient. A good vision & direction are critical to any Individual, if that is present then no amount of praise can make him lose his track.
Good Vision & Direction - Examples Swami Vivekananda. Great Souls are undeterred by external praises & go on to work on the means like Sachin Tendulkar with his practice, passion, Dignity & Humility.
True, what is needed is encouragement more than anything rather than praise bordering on flattery which never helps..We need to make sure that youngsters do not lose their direction and become too full of their own self to the extent that they start looking down on others and become arrogant . Once such an attitude sets in it kills any scope for self improvement !
Indeed, becoming their own self & that making them to look down on others is the worst situation a human can be in. In this case the person who looks down on others loses his value & he also does not feel good. Everybody have their own experiences by which they act in a certain way & we are no one to belittle them or make them feel down. If we can help, we should, otherwise leave them untouched.
Going out a bit away from the topic, this is the same thing in our Indian people. We need to respect our people, culture & have a mutual growth.

After reading the thread, I have been enlightened by active writers like Mr Suny Agra, Mr Rambabu & Usha Madam that Doordarshan & BBC are the news to watch to get the right news though Doordarshan, of late is into political affiliation. I would like to know whether even after this affiliation whether Doordarshan is better than other channels or not.
Also it is very true that negativity is being spread by this kind of propaganda. There are 2 ways of subsiding it
1. Use our discretion & Ignore it. (Or atleast let the Indian Boddunan Community go with it.)
2. Stick to those channels like BBC & Doordarshan which do not go with such kind of activity of going by TRP.
Thank you Boddunan Community for starting, conversing & expressing this topic. It has benefitted me a lot. I would watch BBC from now & watch Doordarshan as well if it is better than other channels.
I would say, be open minded and watch all there is before drawing any conclusions...I try and watch all channels including the local ones which I find give me more local news which is useful for me. They also give some world news focusing on different places and cultures of the world which is very informative...So all news channels have something or the other that is useful..
K Madam. In business channels I have seen that ET Now is good in terms of giving authenic & good advice in share market, to the extent possible with good reasoning & analysis. DD News, NDTV 24*7 are also well conducted. Thank you for telling me to be Independent & to have my own analysis.
If you are interested in business news , I feel that CNBC is the best because they cover almost everything there is besides giving live coverage of share market from Monday to Friday after which they have market analysis . And as far as other news channels go they are all more or less the same ...

The each type of praise & antidote to it is presented, in the sense that for each praise a parent makes he is given the thought whether such praise is worthy to be given or not, as mentioned in All is Sweet talk & no Substance. He subtly hammers home the point by using specific term called "thoughtful encouragement" Also the point mentioned that praising is to be done in private is very realistic, atleast to the adolescent or teens where such private true praise will increase their performance.
