Kalyani Nandurkar replied to the topic Will it be good to have a National Language in India?.
When has Hindi been declared an official language of India? I am not aware of the fact, if anyone has more information, do share the link here. Except that it is spoken in more than one states which is not the case with other languages, it is believed to be official but as far as I know, it is not.
As far as Usha's topic is concerned, I think the safest bet would be English language and not Hindi as English is far more widely spoken and understood in the southern and I think, Northeastern states.

Do you think with the caste system existing, A national language can assure national unity? Even with National Language as Hindi there are caste based fragments, Same language, but within there are different caste based fragments.

My contention is based on the fact that the demand was for introduction of OROP and not for its reintroduction. A fact brought out by @Gulshan and The India Today link. The latter gives a chronological history with milestones of the evolution of the OROP demand. I have tried to logically understand the need for OROP demand and was therefore surprised the Indira Gandhi had scrapped OROP in 1973, when in fact it did not exist as such. Yes web based portals are not all reliable but India Today is surely reliable. I am not interested in entering into discussion on web based portal reliability but on a wrong submission on an important issue like OROP. @ USHA says she has gone thru the India Today link but still choses not to revise her view! One should revise one's views when reliable facts become available. I am interested in facts and not scoring debating points. At least I was humble to revise my opinion when you presented a link and did not start dissecting it.

Hindi is our official language and it should be declared as National Language. Because a common language all over India will help people to connect and stay united, so there should be a National Language and over most parts of India Hindi is spoken or easily understood, so it should be declared as National Language.

Hindi is our official language. Not Language. But it has got nothing to do with the present post.
As a rule a National Language is supposed to unite the people. But the caste caste system plays the spoil sport. Before opting for the National Language, we should abolish caste system.

One becomes a yogi to better enjoy being a bhogi. Too much of bhogi forces him to become a yogi. Too much of yogi bores him to become a bhogi. So the cycle gores on.

Agreed. Senior citizens are more occupied and earning too. This keeps them healthy and mentally alert. This is far better than leading a dull and monotonous life holding a Rudraksha Mala.

usha manohar replied to the topic Will this really solve the problem of carrying documents?.
This DigiLocker service is started by our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi so that we can minimize the use of hard copy documents. But will it really solve the problem of carrying documents?
It is an excellent initiative that is already there in all the developed countries where all the details of the individual is available and there it is called social security number whereas it is Aadhar here. It brings in transparency to the system and makes it easier for the authorities to keep track of money trail and crime..
