One fact that cannot be brushed under the carpet is that women in the sub-continent are not given equal status. Both Islam and hinduism have failed to evolve like the Christian faith in the west.  A lot of this is due to obscurantist religious  leaders who are held in awe  here. I dont think this will change for another 100 years

In fact most of the religions originated from Hindu religion. Because Hinduism existed since several centuries. I think what usually gets lost in the religious fervour is that Hinduism was never a religion to begin with. It was a way of life. And personally I feel that is its beauty. (Apart from the fact that you realise worshipping many gods is actually about seeing that God exists in all life and being, like Krishna appears to Arjuna in The Gita, all encompassing Vishwaroopam (if that is the right term, I haven't read it in a while), which is reallly coolllll!) I am agree with you Hindu is not a religion. Santam Dharma is religion which people of this country are following.

usha manohar said thank you to MG Singh for his/her reply to the topic International Fleet Review, thrilling experience ..
Kalyani Nandurkar wrote: MG Singh wrote: rambabu wrote: The recent IFR is not just another Naval exercise. It has many unique features. The Indian Navy has achieved 90% indigenisation in its float component and of varying degrees in its other components In the new IFR,  many of Indian navy's latest acquisitions like MIG 29 K , KM 31 AEW Helicopter were displayed.  It has its own uniqueness One must remember that all the items quoted above are "Imported" and any time the spares are stopped, the machines become redundant !!. I talk as a professional pilot. This is not the way to be a world power. It has happened earlier. More on  that later   True..otherwise we would be facing another MIG 21 crisis with other planes and helicopters. What is needed is our own technology and everything that can manufactured, maintained and repaired in India, using Indian spare parts. What do you feel would happen if India were to acquire the Raphael fighter planes from France? Would the same thing be repeated? Yes, it will be repeated. Whenever the French, Russians or any power sells weaponry to India a few critical parts constituting not more than 5-10% of the aircraft are NEVER disclosed. Thus even if you have 90% indigenous  parts manufactured, in case those 5-10 % is not given, the plane is useless like any other weaponry as well.  Let me tell friends that similarly a case happened with the top most Indian fighter jet from Russia. I cannot disclose anything , but let readers not be naive and go ga ga on fleet review and 90 % indigenous parts. Its got no meaning in case those vital parts are not given. When I was undergoing Staff College we visited the HAL factory for a study.  We were told that 90% of the Jaguar parts are made in India. and only 10% are imported. The chief designer informed that in case those 10% don't come the Jaguar cannot fly. So please be realistic. India is miles away from being a great power, even a regional power. No wonder we cannot sort out even Pakistan.

Nature has made us different and with the intention that man and woman complement each other ! But at some stage man began to think that he is far superior to women and women put up with this because there was no education and enlightenment to make them realise that they were being manipulated because of their physical weakness ! Nowadays we see many ladies , well built and giving more importance to muscle building and take care of their fitness , which has helped !  Delhi high court decided in one case that a woman can be principal (Karta) of a HUF. I think it is step to give more right to women.

It goes well with Idlis and dosas.. I totally love that chutney powder and have learned to prepare it but the taste is not the way you might prepare it. By the way, is there any particular brand of chutney powder that can be bought? My husband is currently visiting Sirsi and nearby places, he will be in Hubli tonight and will start for Pune tomorrow. I can ask him to buy it for me if you can tell me any specific brand or what it might be called. Kalyani, MTR is the best for curry powder and a few local brands like Aachi, which is equally good. I am sure you can get MTR in Pune . All their spice powders are very good .

Jincy Aby wrote: vijay wrote: Perhaps what Jincy meant was that Hinduism reached Africa in form of indentured Hindu labour by the British during the colonial period. They settled there and thus Hinduism exists. Hindus do not spread it like Christians and Islam do by inducements or forcing people to convert. That is the strength and also weakness of Hinduism. Yes, you are right. the prime reason for reaching of Hinduism in Africa is the recruitment of Indian people in their African colonies. There are so many Gods in Hindu religion. Worshiping and satisfying all these Gods are not easy. This is a complicated process. It may be one of the reasons why Hinduism do not spread like Christianity and Islam.  The first link in this thread clearly says that Hinduism does not believe in numerous Gods rather it signifies only one God in variety of forms. So, there is no trouble in following Hinduism according to one's own choice and trust. Hinduism never believed in force so never used it to convert people into Hindu and increase their number.

usha manohar said thank you to chinmoymukherjee for his/her reply to the topic Personal law not subject to court validation .
If any thing has exposed us in the most ridiculous light it is this very issue of framing a uniform personal code for our land. Woolly thinking, sheer political opportunism and above all complete dishonesty of our political leaders have condemned a vast section of women to a life which is bound to raise frown in civilized world. We have committed ourselves under the Constitutional mandate to make equality before law as the cornerstone of our fundamental rights.Yet years, decades pass by us! Politicians continue to subvert the constitutional objectives working in a way which is completly at odds with the basic scheme of our Constitution.Their pontification, equivocation. and prevarication on the issue came in for sharp reprimand from the Apex court in so many rulings but who cares a damn????

The only problem comes when it is very similar in content to orthers. People are different in thinking. They write what is in their mind. So there is less possibility for writing content that is just like others. Copy writing is not allowed in this site. You and I both know and understand it, but you will still be surprised to know how many people submit blatantly copied articles.

I have changed it's category but warn members to not to post their suggestions. It's for the member that posted this thread in particular to read and act accordingly.  That is so strange! I read today that in one city local administration sent notice to God Hanuman ji to remove his temple and idol from road. Did it issue summons to Hanuman to appear in the Court ? Anil, is there any limit to this foolishness ?            The point which we are missing all along is that Hindus                     themselves undermine their own gods. Can you expect such             a thing happening in Islam or Christianity?  This is because              Hinduism is a divided house. Even Dr Ambedkar wrote a                  against Hindu gods. How many know  this ?   Yes, I'm aware that Ambedkar renounced Hinduism and has become a Buddhist.. But I'm not aware, he has written ill about Hindu Gods. But with reference to the thread, I wonder how people file a case defending Gods whose existence is believed to be mere fiction by the Courts.
