The entire country seems to be under a spell of Kanahaiya's hypnotic speech as if we are new to issues he raised. May be the arrival of a leader greater than Ambedkar! How does he propose to go about ending poverty and casteism? Is he ready to abolish caste-based reservation? Is he ready to distance himself from the motley group of leftists who not-too-distant past ruled WB and a minister of the left government was poking fun at the famished people of the village Amrasol who were forced to eat worms to douse the fire of the belly! JNU is not India nor India is Indis.Much is being made about its so-called status as
a center of excellence. That is amusing. The truth is the standards of academics have been going down in our country if one cares to look at our global standing.Calcutta university and Presidency college look like ghosts of their glorious past. The leftists presided over their liquidation.About the contribution of these premier institutions to nation building, the less said the better! Even a tiny country like Finland had Nokia,South Korea has Samsung,Hundai and others ruling the world and we have none! The reason is not too far to seek!

Let us not envy the publicity that Kanhaiya gets. This is the wrong done to him and the way he came out that makes him a hero. In the ordinary course, he would have just raised some slogans, ultimately tired, got his Ph. D and lost in the crowd teaching in some university. The credit of the unprecedented publicity really goes to those who made doctored videos, got him arrested and ultimately exposed.

Example of US students agitation against Vietnam war is not a relevant example here, for your information it was the America that had launched a long, destructive war against the tiny country of Vietnam, which the US students who, tried and disgusted of losing their brothers, fathers and those who did come back alive were mental wrecks, thanks to Agent Orange, that they no longer related with their families. What is happening at JNU is that the students are supporting a country which has been thirsting for our blood right from its formation. So do not compare the two events, understand the difference between them first.

Can anyone imagine any Americans rooting for Bin Laden in uSA? It's unthinkable and here we have Indians supporting Afzal Guru. What a shame. Its lack of character and debasement of hinduism. Tolerance of the Hindus is responsible for this. Field Marshal Montgomery in his " History of Warfare" writes that the lack of single minded aim to annihilate an enemy and all around tolerance contributed in great measure to the defeat of the Hindus. We are heading the same way again

Exactly!! The leftists in India look only at the Hindu culture in their endeavour to show how it is all untrue and silly and outdated and all that rubbish. But the same thing applies to other religions which they conveniently ignore, none of it is rubbish for them. These leftists are quite two-faced in their approach at their so-called progressive outlook. And as far as forcing it on others go, no one, not even Modi is forcing Hindu religion on any one. Only thing he is trying to do is give back the country its real identity of being a Hindu country, in spite of what the leftists might say. This country was and will remain a Hindu country. He who wants to believe in mythology may do so or keep his own thoughts to himself.
The accusation that atheists target only Hindu is without any basis. Actually an atheist is also born in a particular religion. Somebody born Hindu will naturally be either a devoted Hindu or if he turns atheist, he will oppose Hindu beliefs. He may not have to do anything with other religions. On the other hand somebody born Christian may oppose Christian beliefs and attack church. In U.S.A. there are many atheists who are opposed to church. They have noting to do with Hindu and will attack only Christian beliefs. They could also be accused of attacking only Christian beliefs and leaving untouched others.
Moreover, every one is free to hold any opinion. I am an atheist but have all respect for others- may be Hindu, Christian or Muslim- orthodox, liberal, believer or no believer.
Incidentally, the link is about a chart that is just indicative of your Right or Left leanings. This has nothing to do whether being Right or Left is good or bad.

I guess the Times of India reporters do not know that alimony is given only to spouses and not parents! Alimony, support, maintenance, call it whatever you like, it amounts to the same thing and that is 'to provide financial support to the ones who are left holding the wrong end of the stick.' So what problem is there if 'alimony' is paid to parents instead of support?

@Kalyani You shared a very meaningful link. This should be read by each and every son and daughter along with their spouses. I wonder why parents need to go to court and file case against their child/children for survival! Don't the children feel ashamed of themselves? There can be unnumbered differences or maybe parents are at fault but that can never give liberty to the children to leave their parents to starve or drive them away from home. This has to be a moral responsibility of every child towards their parents and guardians.

Very informative article Kalyani. As early as 1975, the Supreme court clarified, the object of Section 125 Cr PC is "to provide a Summary remedy to save dependents from destitution and vagrancy and thus to serve a Social purpose" Maintenance in alimony need not be restricted to estranged couples only. Even children contest their parents' claim as a reasonable amount as alimony for survival.
This article removed all the misconceptions prevailing about Alimony.
Everybody should read this article.

Exactly.. Trump has already declared that should he win the elections, thousands of Indians would be sent back to India and those jobs would be made available to the Indians. So it is only right that Modi has denied visa to the Americans for the said reason. I mean, those Americans are hardly tolerant themselves, they too have their own kinds of discrimination against other nationals , so who are they to inspect our religious state of affairs?

@Anil, giving monetary benefits in return for sterilization will not solve the problem. Sadly, this kind of attitude is so deeply ingrained in the psych of Indians thanks to a hundred kinds of freebies and subsidies thrown by the congress that, for each and every act one expects to be paid. Why cannot we look at it as our basic and fundamental duty towards our country? We take money for everything, now add getting sterilized to it, a nation of beggars. Give us money, only then we will work! That attitude needs to be changed.
